there are much better things these police officers could have done- I reside on the west side and their presence there would make more sense- dont you think? But we must consider the source!!!!!!!!!!

I graduated from canisius several years ago and i frequently continue to visit the campus. I was at spring fest this year and witnessed several things about the police pressence that troubled me. The first being officers playing catch with a football in the streets surrounding the campus. The next being police officers using college facilities and eating the food that is provided to the students by the college. So not only are the tax payers paying for the increase in police presence but so are the students. There are many organizations that do mutiple things that help the surrounding neighborhoods. doing such things as habitat for humanity, volunteering at soup kitchens and aiding in the cleanup of the neighborhood after storms like the one a little over a year ago. I also beleive that i heard byrone brown comment that over 500 families made complaintes about previous spring fests.. I find this number to be grossly enlarge due to the fact that probably 50% of the housing in that neighborhood is rented by students that partake in the festivities. This is an annual occurence that has been going on well before most of the current families have been living in the neighborhood and they should have been aware of what takes place on and around college campuses. Most of these families enjoy the added police pressence the college brings to them year round and it is a much more secure area of the city due mostly because of Canisius Public Safty Officers and there quick response times to area fire's minor desturbances that come with living in the city. Lastly, the fact that byrone browns own son caused more damage in one day over the winter than 2000 students letting lose at the end of a long school year is very amusing. And i am also wondering if the City of buffalo will be sending a police force to amherst next year to aid the Unniversity of buffalo and the amherst police department in moderating the spring fest at that campus.

I'm totally for police being there. I'm sure there were some responsible kids that just like getting together and having fun, but you know the saying, one bad apple, thats all it takes. those kids are probably nice, but when alcohol is consumed they can become animals and destructive. I would have called the police myself.

What a waste of taxpayer money!$32,000. Three years ago when my daughter first started at Canisius, I was worried about her driving in the City in a not so nice area, but Canisius has bought old run down buildings and turned them into parts of their campus and I must admit was quite impressed with their effort to fix up the neighborhood. My daughter attended the quad party and said the police protection was quite unnecessary. If Mayor Brown's son had not been caught on surveilance by Canisius's cameras I wonder would this still have happened. Like the T-shirts the students were wearing says is all "Please Mayor Brown - Give us one more quad party before we move out of town for our new job"!

WIVB has no decency when reporting the news. The dirtier the better. They dont care what lives are destroyed. They hide behind the words "alleged and accused". Why wasn't this story and his arrest aired several times a day? People were paid off to protect his precious reputation and his family. He is criminal in nature himself.

Cops find ANY means possible to garner more overtime pay, thus increasing their pension when they retire.

They screw people over when on duty on the force, and they screw you when they are retired too.

Most states base pensions on base salary not including OT. If you don't NYS pension rules then write your elected officials to have those rules changed. Don't hat the player. Hate the game
