who the heck cares if he had an affair. its not up to us to judge him. and an affair does not make you a crook. look in your own backyard first and make sure its spotless before you look upon others. its no ones business what he does in his spare time in his own bedroom. butt out and take care of your own problems...

I would love to comment on the remark Sam Hoyt made which is in the article on the front page of the Buffalo News 8/20/08. He stated that he did not "break any law only a marriage vow". Well Sam I would like to inform you that you did break a law, God's law. Though shall not commit adultery. Trust is one of the many honored values a person can hold, and you obviously cannot be trusted. Like so many others.

He had a affair so what. Who hasn't nowadays?? it was something that happened awhile ago and if his wife and him reconciled or whatever, its old news. who cares? how about the current things that need attention...As for the committees that are reviewing the situation- what situation? someone got mad at Mr.Hoyt, wanted revenge, leaked a secret and now its out in the open. If the committees were to review everyone in the political aspect, if they dug deep enough and investigated everyone- they would probalby come up with soooo much dirt, that we wouldn't have politicians.. it maybe a good thing but get real.

Mr. Holier-then thou Hoyt.
ALL politicians are the same.
It seems that they may have too much time. Mybe if they worked like regular people they would be too tired to mess around.
He gets what he deserves.
Typical Democrat, he must idolize Bill Clinton.
sick of it too

I love the first line of this article. It's called "shocking news."
I hate to tell the media, this is not shocking. We are so used to to politians acting like fools and trying to double talk their way out of whatever they did, that all we do is roll our eyes and say so what else is new. Do they have any idea how little respect and admiration if any at all the general public feels for them? What is is it like to live in that bubble?

Funny how the party affliation isn't mentioned anywhere. Perhaps we are all supposed to know what party he belongs to???
Seems to me that more times than not if the politican is involved in a scandal of any kind and is a Republican it's in the headline. If a democrat, no mention.
At any rate, maybe he was trying to be the next clinton.

I have a 100% effective way to eliminate all marital infidelity. Eliminate the institution of marrage then no one would care about this kind of behavior.

This could be a vast right wing conspiracy, Edwards, Hoyt and Spitzer

I agree... what Sam did is between he and his wife and no one else. I am only interested if and when he cheats the tax payers... Personal life is just that.. "Personal"

This was not just an affair...like you had, but it was part of the policy and procedure of the legislature to NOT have any contact with INTERNS!

Interns can be very young and vulnerable and ruined for life by having superficial relationships with powerful politicians!

You are one of the reasons, ethics in this world and workplace have no meaning!
Keep your secret affairs to your destruction of your family and promote the family unit and no affairs at the workplace! His behavior is a hint that he does cheat the taxpayer...he violated state regulations!

Let's see now, Sammy said this:
“This bill is needed to stop child molesters from receiving a slap on the wrist for sexually violating children who are related to them,” Hoyt said.“New York State law should impose the same punishment for child abusers – regardless of whether the abusers are strangers or family. This legislation does that.”
Looks like we need another law to stop politicians from porking the hired help.

The rule against sex with interns is too strict.
