So, was it 2 or 3- or 2 adults and a child. I read 3 names here. Just pointing out the flaw.

Does it really matter. I mean seriously you are nit picking when two people lost their lives.
This is a horrible accident that happened and you're worried about exactly who it was. I happen to know the driver closely and her son. This is an unfortunate accident and this family does not deserve this. I am deeply sadened by this news today. |

Kelly was a close family friend, both her and her nephew were too young to be taken. This accident is tragic and the losses are devistating. I am glad to hear that her son is doing ok and my prayers go out to her brother and sister in law along with Kelly's family, son and husband as well as everyone grieving for their loss.

this might be bad to say, but they were drivin a pathfinder, ofcourse the guy in the semi is going to be fine. they dont even need to report that, were talking abput 45,000 lbs against a 4,000 lb suv, who is generally going to win. dont mean to offend anyone if i did.

Is your attention span that short? It clearly states THREE people where killed, from a total of SIX involved. |

Heather was a good friend of mine and I have known Trevor since he was 5. This is a horrible thing to happen to such a good family. My heart and prayers go out to all the families of those involved in the accident.

Which "highway"? I'm assume this happened on 285, but Mr. Wolf never mentions this.

It is not offensive. It is simply irrelevant. The same thing can be said for any vehicle vs. semi accident. |

I heard the tragic news yesterday, and immediately began to search my mind for the last time I had seen or spoken to my friend Kelly. I can still hear her laugh and cry in my mind. I began to search my emails to look at the pictures that she had recently sent to me. Anyone who knows Kelly, Aaron, and Ethan are trully blessed. Aaron I lost my mother the same way and I know your pain. Please know that you are never alone. I will pray for you and your family. Kelly may be gone from this earth, but never will she be forgotten. I've heard it said that in life you may have friendships that will last a season or a lifetime and she was definitely a friend for a lifetime and not a season!!!!!!

So then it was Kelly's brother's wife that was driving? I work with Kelly's husband, and I knew Kelly from her visits here...this is a tragic loss, she was absolutely a lovely wonderful girl.....our hearts got out to all of them. And I thank God their son is ok. But our thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of the people that knew Kelly and her nephew.... |

No. Kelly, Ethan, her brother and his son were the passengers, and kelly's sister was driving. they were returning home after visiting their father in the hospital after he had heart surgery. Its said that the roads were slushey and wet and kelly's sister lost control of the vehicle. |

Here is the article from the Gunnison newspaper.
Tragedy struck a well known and well loved Gunnison area family Wednesday morning, when a fatal traffic accident occurred on Hwy . 24 south of Buena Vista. The three children of Linda and Larry Nienhueser - Kelly Baird, Heather Matott, and Seth Nienhueser - were traveling back to their Front Range-area homes when they were involved in a collision with a semi-truck on Trout Creek Pass. Killed in the accident were 28-year-old Baird of Loveland and the 8-year-old son of Matott. The infant son of Baird was also in the vehicle. He received only minor injuries. According to a Colorado State Patrol Report, Matott, 26, of Castle Rock, was driving a Chevy Trail Blazer eastbound on Hwy. 24 when she lost control on an "icy, slushy" road. The vehicle collided head-on with a semi-truck. The vehicle was then pushed off the roadway and rolled 1 1/4 times down an embankment. Matott was transported by flight to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. Her condition was unknown as of press time. Nienhueser was the right front passenger. He was transported to the Salida hospital with injuries. Baird was not wearing a seat belt. The 8-year-old, who's father is Steve Barton of Gunnison, was buckled. The family was in Gunnison visiting Larry, who was recently hospitalized with a heart condition. All three Nienhueser children grew up in the area and graduated from Gunnison High School. Linda Nienhueser is the director of finance for Gunnison County. Larry formerly owned and operated NBC, a lumber yard and building material store in Gunnison. |

Everyone who woked with and loved Kelly are deeply saddened by her tragic loss.
Lu said Kelly was so kind, when her nephew went, she went too, to be with him. All of us who loved her will miss her terribly, and we are all praying for the family. |

It is so sad to hear news as tragic as this, but it is even worse when it is someone so close to you. I am very close with this entire family. I am at a loss for words. Just so everyone understands completely, Heather Mattot was the driver, her son was one of the two people that passed away. Kelly(Heather's sister) also lost her life. Kelly's infant son was not harmed. Seth(Kelly and Heather's brother)suffered minor injuries. The entire family is trying to cope with this huge loss and appreciate all the support they have recieved.
