It sounds like a very sad situation for everyone. There is always two sides to every story but leave it to the unethical realtors John and Rebecca Mercado to take advantage of the situation. I live in Whittier and have heard numerous stories about their unethical behaviors but this takes the cake!! Their real estate company "The Real Estate Store" is one large group of scam artists. Everything is done internally to keep everything hush, hush!! They are a take the money and run couple, so I hope this sale doesn't have any problems because you won't get a response except too bad hire an attorney.
You obviously are talking about the wrong people because I know them and they are a very nice and respectable couple. I wonder how you would feel if someone slandered your name at your place of business!

"hispanic race population percentage significantly above state average."
We're not asking for your statistics, and for many people that would be a desirable home, just not for people like you, who think are above everyone.

Why would anyone want to stay in Santa Fe Springs anyway?

Foreign-born population percentage significantly above state average.

The recipients of these homes should have to sign contracts that if they do sell these homes, they only get a small percentage of the profits (say 15%) with the remainder going to the community, lowering the price, or working out some other way so as to not benefit the family in any way.
The generosity of the show is amazing as is the help of the communities but the family should not see this as a windfall and a means to achieve thousands of dollars in selling the gift.
And while no one likes a gift with strings attached, there must be some guidelines enforced. There are too many stories of families selling the homes at high prices, houses built that are too big for them to maintain (financial records should be viewed by the show), and just plain greed with a lot of these stories. Where is the screening of families before the community and the show puts tons of hours and thousands of dollars into a family that has no ties to the community, has used its 'hard luck' story to scam people, and/or a family cannot afford more than what they have.
Let's not see anymore abuse of communities and a group of people that are truly dedicated to helping less fortunate. Go ahead and help build homes for less fortunate but keep them in type, style and square footage similar to others around them.
And for heaven's sake, let's not take from the truly needing for those trying to scam everyone.

Bimbo? Wow someone is sexist. I will pray for you. You seem like a very miserable individual. All I was trying to say is to stop dwelling on the past. Whoever keeps writing on this forum leaving very offensive comments obviously is holding a grudge. And it seems like its the same person just using different names every time. Get on with life. Be happy. That's all I have to say. God bless =)

For someone who tries to pretend to be happy and Christian, you'd think you'd be less judgmental and let people do what they want.
Yes, bimbo. It suits you. You're not our mother. Quit trying to play the part, just because your mom obviously did a lousy job with you.
That has got to be the most disrespectful thing I have ever heard. What is the world coming to? Disrespecting woman....its just sad. I found nothing wrong with what Amy said. For you to turn around and insult her and her mother like that just shows what kind of person you are. She is right. Why are you still lingering here and insulting good people for no reason at all?
