Christmas spirit rises out of the ashes for Mt. Olive family

MOUNT OLIVE -- Christmas came 24 days early to one Budd Lake family who is struggling to get back on its feet after a fire destroyed all of their possessions two years ago.

I just read this article about Maggie The Freeloader.

Do you believe it. She left Netcong where she dumped her poor kids on anyone and everyone and now she is in the newspaper taking more handouts.

I am happy for the kids but I sure as hell hope people don't give Maggie money because those kids won't see a dime of it.

Maggie manufactured sooo many lies to get a free handout (God forbid she should work) that I don't know where to begin.

She has dumped her kids at my house and drove away before I could catch her. She never leaves a phone number, emergency contact or her current address in Budd Lake so the kids are left until she decides to come back for them.

The people who helped her should be commended but she should be ashamed for lying. The time line doesn't even match.

I am glad for her kids (poor darlings) but she deserves a kick in the ^ss.

when she lived in netcong she was my neighbor. she was so horrible to her kids. they were so afraid of her. she treated them like sh^t. she is an egotistical maniac.

she would leave those kids with anyone at anytime for as long as she possible could to get them out of her hair.

i am glad the kids got toys and gifts. i hope she doesn't sell them after christmas is over.

i was happy to see the kids smiling in the newspaper pictures. it is the very first time i ever saw them happy.

Yeah, I agree the kids deserve some happiness. She was on her best behavior when they went to her house for the story. As long as those kids are with her and no cameras are around, they don't stand a chance. They are her ticket to state aid. She uses and abuses the system including the church. She should be ashamed. She could get a job. Walmart is always hiring. So there is no excuse. When I saw this story, I couldn't believe what I was reading. There are so many people out there that could use it more than Ms. Maggie. User and loser!!!

You would always see her in Quick Check buying Cigarettes. That money should go to the KIDS!! The kids should always come first. Disgraceful!!

There were so many families in Netcong who took her kids under their wings. She should be grateful to each an every one of them. What an ungrateful loser!!

You are a bit harsh but right on the money. I have seen her on many occasions dropping her kids off in the Wiltop area. I feel sorry for the kids. It is a hard situation because you want to help the kids but you don't want to be responsible for them while she is MIA.

Yup this is absolutely right she dropped them off and the woman whose house she droppped them off at did not know they were there until this "accident" took place and the little boy was injured pretty severly and now it soounds like maggie is probably going to sue that persons homeowners and will try to walk away with a nice chunk of change!!! And as usual at the expense of her children!!! And if that woman does get sued believe me there will be a lot of people who can attest to how she just unloads her kids and takes off and there is not a home owners attorney or an insurance company that will not fight to the end to make sure this woman does not get a dime!!! They will prove neglect, child abanonment and whatever else they need to in order to not pay out to this woman!!! But thats what happens when you dump your kids and do not keep your eye on them. They get hurt or god forbid worse!!! And if anyone is going to try to use Geri basciano as a scapegoat because they have issue on top of issue well they will get it when they are not looking !!!

As for the jabs at my motherhood - Have you MET my beautiful children? It is no accident that they are as beautiful and well-adjusted as they are. We have a warm and happy home; and they certainly are not afraid of me! And, yes, I did often drop them off to play with their friends. I was, at no time MIA. I kept in touch frequently as their friends can attest. Furthermore, no one has ever "fed and clothed" my children. Come on people, really!

Regarding the article in the paper: First of all, I am not a scammer! I responded to a post on Craigs List that was asking for a story of people who've been struggling lately. On a whim, I decided to share my life experiences with them. My essay was not geared toward the fire - that's just the slant that the DR used for their article. In no way, shape or form did I lie or scam anyone. I was the "lucky winner". I have never begrudged anyone else's happiness. If you own your own home - great! If you have a happy marriage - even better!

As far as people saying "don't give her money" - What exactly are you implying? I take very good care of my children. They are healthy, content and secure in this world. No, it hasn't been easy; and yes, I have made mistakes OF COURSE!!! Who hasn't - especially a mother!

Oh please, you're not kidding anyone. You've already showed your spots Maggie... can't change them now. People know you and your motives. I just hope your kids don't pay for your neglect. You have disgraced yourself because you hide behind the church and your children ... and you use them both. The blogs hit a nerve with you Maggie because you thought you had EVERYONE FOOLED. Well now you know that you never had anyone fooled and that they put up with your terrible behavior because of your children. I pray to Our Lord everyday that you will see the errors of your ways ..... it would appear Our Lord has finally answered my prayers. Going to mass does not make you a good christian or a good mother ... that has been proven many, many times and you once again are proof. You treat you children like objects that can be moved around and shoved aside at your will and for your benefit. You have used peopled. You use people. You probably always will ..... You "well meaning friend" should also tell you that your parenting skills are a disgrace!!! No one and I mean no one has every said anything about your children!!!! People feel an overwhelming sorrow for your kids because you neglect the hell out of them.

thanks a lot people .... everybody in the area has seen this forum and now I am gonna have to move to another state where no one knows me to collect money for my cigarettes and booze.
i will have to start all over with a new set of mothers to watch my kids and a new newspaper to flimflam.
