Conservative M&M Mars...or why I'll never buy anything Mars makes

After much thought, I've decided to take advantage of what Topix allows me to do; say what's on my mind.
(Something that a newspaper will censor you for or just not allow at all).

I've known people who work for M&M Mars and they tell me what goes on there.
Of course working for a company that is owned by the richest person in the state of NJ, Jacqueline Mars would be a added bonus. Albeit she has very little over-sight of the company anymore from what I understand.

I, like many others always enjoyed eating M&M's, and I was excited and proud to live in a town that has a company known world-wide for quality, and I was willing and able to go to work for them in 2007.
But I was turned down without explanation, reason or even a courtesy call, despite being fully qualified and eager for the job.
The managers there typically earn 6 figure salaries. And some of the execs earn 7 figure salaries.
All while cutting back wages and benefits for starting laborers in around 2004-5, so that management and execs could give themselves a pay raise, and bonuses to go along with their tax cuts.

Some of the people there do absolutely nothing all day other than to make sure other laborers get the work done so management looks good.
Other laborers work a few hours then goof-off the rest of the day. It all depends on who you're friends with I guess.

Now I hear they're thinking about moving to Mexico, as though they're mad at Obama for becoming President.
Not enough conservative Mexicans to fill the jobs there?
Good riddance! Go to Mexico then, and don't come back!

Am I bitter at my Mars experience? Maybe a little, but you can decide for yourself what kind of company Mars has become.
Most of the people there from what I hear are extremely conservative, paranoid, unsympathetic, overpaid, angry and ignorant.

But again, you can decide, and your experiences may honestly differ from mine. I'm quite sure there's good, honest, selfless, happy, confident conservatives that work there also.

To contrast my Mars interview experience; I was also turned down by HMUA for a job. But am not bitter at all with them because the Director there understood me, explained to me his position, and was sympathetic to my and others problems finding meaningful employment.
Not so at Mars.

It's ok though, I'd rather not work for that company now. I don't need their particular dictatorial style of BS employment or their employees conservative BS onslaughts.
I know what kind of worker I am far better than they'll ever want to understand, and made my former employer many hundreds of millions of dollars. Plus I liked working for them!

All I know is that I will never ever again buy anything Mars produces, and have a new found understanding of the sweetness of the candy business...they turn some sweet people, bitter.

Now I hear from an ex-worker there, that Mars is getting rid of 80% of the workforce and training new workers that were temp workers out of Staff Management.

So they're still playing the same games with lowering labor pay.

The rich get richer, and the middle-class and poor get poorer.
For the angry conservative laborers that defended the rich and will be laid-off soon... you wanted it, you got it.

Not at all compared to others I've seen who aren't whiners.

When you're good and you know it, you can afford to whine once in a while.

I don't need your approval or disaproval to write my thoughts about things I've witnessed.

I'm not the bad guy.

as you claim, you wouldn't have a problem getting a job.
I've had offers, and even worked a few days here and there, but I didn't like the increasingly low pay, long commutes, no benefits or bad working conditions.

Like I've said in other posts, I don't have to work and won't put up with draconian bosses.

If a potential company isn't willing to give me credit where credit is due, or pay me what I'm worth, then I'm just not interested in working for them.

Obviously everyone is worth less.... albeit, except for millionaires and billionaires.

You can try and demonize me all you want, I'm not the one causing these problems.

Then prove it.
You can't because you don't know what a fact is.

You start off making a good point, then deteriorate into the precise reasons why I have no regrets in not working there.

IYHO, I'm a very bad person who has no business working for such a great company.

If things truly do come around and go around, hopefully you'll be labeled the same way one day by someone just like yourself.

Read a little closer what I wrote:

Mars can do no wrong.
They hire only the very best BS artists they can find.
The fact is they're draconian and dictatorial and have no place for independent progressive thought.

If it were up to con artists like you, I shouldn't be allowed to work anywhere.
IYHO, I'm a very bad person, and probably a even worse American.

What comes around goes around, enjoy!

Hey numbnuts, it's a private company. they can run it any way they choose. If you don't like it, rub your two brain cells together and start your own company with all that independent progressive thought and see how long you stay in business.
I wouldnt hire you to pick off my dingleberries
I never said they weren't private, and I never said they couldn't run it the way they wanted...

So you'd rather not read my thoughts about them...
then don't read the post.

I'm still waiting for you to change my first amendment right to free speech... I guess that's not going very well for you.
Oh and btw, you said you know me, then prove it liar.

And don't worry, I wouldn't apply for a job to pick your dingleberries, albeit it's probably a full time job for you.

You're such an irrelevant errand troll boy, you have no ideas other than lies to spread.

To those who think they're too good for the company who didn't hire them, I agree. Start your own company. Work for yourself. Put up with all the regulations the state throws at you. I have been self employed since 1980, and moved my business to Vermont and OUT of New jersey. A state with a strong sense of a work ethic.

Terry, pay unqualified employees the state minimum wage and realize they aren't worth it. Pay half their Social Security taxes too. Pay their unemployement and workers comp insurance. But also realize those employees MUST make more money for you, the company that it costs to employ them. And the LAST employee I want is somebody who thinks his poop doesn't stink! Because I can tell you from experience those are usually the ones who get the least amount of work done.

The main reason you weren't hired is right in the mirror.

The reason I wasn't hired is unknown to anyone including you or me...and that's the fact of the matter, not some mantra ideology tells you to repeat.

My poop smells the same as anyone elses, it doesn't have anything to do with the smell of poop, it has everything to do with qualifications, and I was completely qualified for the job.

I could easily say that the last company I want to work for is one who doesn't think they're poop stinks either... but that would just be stating the obvious at this point.

I don't buy into the idea that companies can do no wrong as you do.
Some people have even gone so far as to say that laws should be passed taking away any rights to sue any company for any reason.

I don't buy that either, sorry.
I believe in freedom of speech, and that's exactly what I'm going to do...make my thoughts known.

Like I stated previously, I enjoyed working for my former company because they gave me a certain amount of freedom to work on things that would later prove very beneficial to the company.
Too many companies are too draconian and there's zero incentive for employees to do anything beyond what they're told to do.

And then people wonder why innovation and progress is stagnant and yielding to other countries.
It's shameful.

Did the company have any openings for the position you were looking for? Were they hiring at all?

Or did you just walk in off the street and fill out an application? The professional openings are usually filled through agencies.

Yes, you may have been qualified, but if they were indeed hiring for the position you sought, obviously there was someone MORE qualified than you, right?

You're using your First Ammendment rights of free speech, and I'll back you to the hilt there, but others are also using THEIR freedom of speech to disagree with you. It works both ways.

Yes I absolutely understand their rights to disagree with me no matter how ill-informed their standard ideological talking points are.

Yes, I applied online and they called me in for an interview.
As far as more qualified, or for that matter a more meaningful experience to their former employer, I seriously doubt it.
Plus it wasn't just 1 position they were hiring for, it was 12... there's absolutely no-way 12 people were going to beat me out for that job. No way, no how.

Most of the places I went to for interviews don't even bother looking at or reading your resume.
They might think they're trying to catch you in a lie on your resume, but what they're really doing is calling you a liar to begin with.

Evidently Mars found 12 people who were more qualified in their opinion than you are in your opinion.

So stop whining and get on with your life. Get over it.

Because you say so?

No, I don't think so.
I've pretty much said my piece...but thanks for keeping it on top of all the topics with your response.
I'll be more than happy to answer any other questions or comments.

Companies can lie and say anything they want to you, but you shouldn't be able to do the same of them?

That's fair in a warped kind of way.
But whoever said it should be fair right?
Certainly not you.
