I feel for the parents of this boy. I don't think that we truly understand how young people view ending ones own life. The parents probably did do everything they could or knew how to do. We live in a world that views suicide as a choice when in fact it is not a choice at all but, a sickness. Until we are able to accept suicide as a sickness and not a choice people (children and adults) will continue to take their own lives.

I believe the father is guilty all the way around it and should be held 100% liable for his actions in his son getting a hold of a live firearm.

Hopefully the youth who have heard about this tragic loss will come to understand how much words do hurt! Whoever said: sticks & stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me: lied! Words do hurt! Before we say something mean to someone, we need to look in the mirror first and remember that we are not perfect either. What a sad, lonely boy this boy must have been, what an empty, lonely place to be. I invite anyone who is lonely to come to Cook Road Baptist church. Let's all try to learn the lesson here: don't hurt other people! No one would like for this to happen to them.

I feel sorry for the little boy that shot himself, i have seen the pressures these kids are under today and i am just so sorry that it is in elementry schools too, that is just horrible, i don't think the father is responsible because he taught his son how to use it and it was a choice the little boy made, maybe dad could of put the gun under lock and key but if that boy really wanted to kill himself he would of gotten that gun anyway. The kids today have it so rough and i regret when my grandkids start school, i may just do home schooling i dont know. thank you for this option to express my feelings cuz it was really on my mind, i just couldn't believe such a young child had so many pressures. Thanks for listening

Why blame the father? Because a gun was envolved? What if had used a kitchen knife? Would you blame his mother?

Our children wanting to die is the issue that needs to be addressed, not what they use to carry out the task.

Hello: I know what you are talking about as far as words do hurt. I went through it all through school because of being heavy. I think if i could of got hold of a gun i would of done the same thing. But today there is pills and feel it would be easy. Im not saying what this lil boy did was right but im saying i know how he felt. Other kids can be so crule to us i would like to know what they would of done if the shoe was on the other foot. Still today i am shy from going out on my own i feel the same kids are out there looking and laughing i believe it does something to you that cant ever change.

Alex was my nephew and he was bullied by kids at galion school. He was miserable. He came home with a black eye and I asked him what happened? He put his head down and said "nothing I hit it swimming at the Y" he was angry and disagreed with everything I said. I talked to my mom about it and left it at that. Now I have to live with that for the rest of my life. I had to go to Psycho. ward for awhile to deal with this and I still cant hardly live with myself daily. I was with him everyday he was a wonderful kid. I cant see how Mrs. Jackson lives with herself everyday when he wrote a note that day and she found it in her desk and took it to the principles office and he because he wasn't in she put it in her desk. Had she given alex's parents a call and informed them of this hate note maybe the results would of been different. I was at my moms when alex's mom came running in crying and screaming "they knew, they knew, he was going to do it!" and for the kids who torchered him: what if? what if? he turned the gun the other way? At least I could still visit him.

I'm not familiar with this case but if it's a case of bullying then the only people responsible for this are the bullies.
I used to be bullied at school and I still do not have a normal social life ever since. Bullies should be dealt with like criminals!

i lived in galion when this took place and i belive the father should have put the gun up to where the boy didn't know where it was. i aslo feel the school is to blame for the death of this little boy. if they knew he was having this much trouble at school they should have contacted the parents andthen maybe the boy would still be here with his sibling.

If schools were outfitted with complete coverage of schoolcams, they would have it on tape as to who was mean to this child, or of any other wrong actions. If nursing homes are installing cameras, police have cameras, babysitting situations have cameras, churches are getting cameras, City Streets are installing cameras ..why not our schools? The film could be collected/dated/stored for future reference. How many thieves have been caught with store video as reference? Our children..Our most important resource! When will they learn?

Our schools DO have security cameras. I've literally seen people buy and sell dope directly in front of them. The equipment is no good when the people behind it are still incompetent nitwits and don't enforce...well, nearly anything.

The irony is I once got kicked out of class when I was in high school for saying that.

So.. Would it then be on tape as to what happened to this little boy? IF not..WHY not?

Galion schools NOW have the video camera's they didn't back in 2006. My son has been bullied at Galion Middle school as well. I can say that one teacher called me to say he was concerned that my son may be going down the wrong path. Maybe, MAYBE, this incident has caused teachers to act more proactively.
