You're wasting your time. My brother in law was 16 and thrown into an adult prison because he was driving a car after his "friend" jumped out and robbed a woman at publix. There was a police chase, spike strips and he was charged as an adult. The prosecutor in Port Saint Lucie wanted to give him life in prison for being the driver of the car when he wasn't the one with the gun nor did he know what this kid was about to do. He's now serving a 8 year sentence in an adult prison and after serving 3 years, he's going to be a hardcore criminal when he gets out. He's learning the ways in prison because all of the "older" inmates are teaching him their ways. He's also one of the biggest drug dealers in his prison, screwing at least 3 correction officers wives who volunteer and has officers working for him and bringing the cash he makes out of the prison for him..

So I'm not shocked.

Excuse my language here but FUCK each and everyone of you who view the death of this young man as a positive thing. In the past 18 months I myself have lost 12 of my dearest friends, some may have gone to the after life because of a stupid thing they may have done and others by the hand of another. either way it is in no way a good thing for a young person to lose their life. i suppose you think you are invensable because your god did not bless you with a heart, and in order to be alive you must have one. Upon your death I hope no one shows up to your funeral and not one person cries behind closed doors because you do not deserve the compassion of others.

I can not believe some of the comments on here. What has made people so full of hate to think that that was a good thing to happen to this young man? Cold Hearted!! Let's talk about the officer that forged the log that was not doing her every 15 minute checks and after 3 hours he was found hangin' in the cell... She was caught filling in the log by her supervisors and she was put on 1 week PAID leave then allowed back to work. She was not doing her job and caught filling in logs... I think that is a felony charge. Then her supervisor was promoted to lt??? What is wrong with the adminsitration at the jail... I guess because the kids was not from money then... who cares?? All I have to say is that judgement day will come hard on all those men that run the jail and the nurse will surely get paid back for mistreating everyone in her path. God Bless that boy that took his life and my God help the ones responsible own up to their poor decisions and have to pay whatever way they should by law and not let it be just swept under the rug.

Don't have to wonder too far to figure out who is responsible for this post, obviously you know so much about this. How many times have you taken your logs home to do them??

There are some good cops and there are alot of bad cops.They will cover for each other to the end.How someone can hang them self and no one knows it ,thats a bunch of bull.How big is this jail, how many cells do you have.No one checks the cells.Also the medical is a joke.They better pray they never end up in one and never say neverYou just had one of your boys the other day.I bet he was treated different.

Obviously you don't know who posted that comment because I don't have a clue what you mean by your question.. logs home? I do know information on the wrong doings by the adminsitration and the jail because my husband has worked there for many many years.......

you are right... as I stated before, how hard is their job there... especially at night. 15 minute checks but they are too lazy to get off their ass and do their job and check on the inmates. Usually there are playing on the internet, watching movies or talking on their personal cell phone. I believe the inmate that escaped was when a officer was talking away on his personal cell phone. Great adminsitration to allow all that. How is it right that the officer responsible and her supervisors were let off with a slap on the wrist? not even that. Regardless of what the boy did, the officers are being paid to watch the inmates, they should do their job or be fired when this kind of thing happens.

I happened on this site when I followeda link and was surprised that there was any more info on the death of the teenager. Haven't seen anything about it in the Okeechobee paper. It is amazing what the guards get away with doing or should I say not doing. There needs to be some accountablity but until the jail becomes accredited there isn't anyone to complain to. Oh that's not quite right you can put in a complaint with the Dept. of Justice in Washington but not sure how much time they have to spend on a little town like Okeechobee.

You are responsible for your own decisions. And I will bet dollars to pesos that he DID have a gun. I have been around law enforcement for a long time. They will look you square in the eys and say "I swear to GOD. I swear on my mother.." and then find a gun or drugs on them..Then ask why they ran and they say "I was scared" I personally wish cops could shoot people trying to run. Maybe that would teach others to think about running.
