Get rid of these losers:

Vicky Kelley
Steve Hollen
Rob Smith
Charliena Helmick
Jody Light
Brad Lincicome
Monica Smith
Joyce Greene
Kim Lincicome

This will be a good start!

They just want to look important & in some cases, get their own kids & grandkids in the parades!

My friends ceo club sells a basket every year & they usually make great money. This year it was boring. Beautiful weather & no crowd at all. The guy running it was new & didn't seem to know what he was doing.

I challenge any one of you to walk a mile in any one of their shoes. Its easy to set back and judge and say "I would have done this or that". You have ideas? PRACTICAL IDEAS? Then get your asses to the meetings and help out. As for the kids in the parade, the hostess prince and princesses are not eligible to be in the pageants if their parents are on the board. That is to avoid people saying the pageant was rigged. Grand kids is an honorary position and have to be held to the same rules as the others age wise. People dont have a clue what goes on in putting on this parade so that armchair quarterbacks can say things were done wrong. Step up and help or shut up. Meetings are open to the public.

Here we go again - same as last year. As soon as the festival is over, someone comes on here bashing board members, and yes, we know at least 2-3 of you doing so (your friends can't keep a secret). No need to change your name for the 2 above posts - it seems obvious you're the same person, but it really doesn't matter either way, but I'm using my real name.

Wonder when I inherited kids or grandkids - surprised you missed some who do though, which makes knowing who's posting these even easier. No, being on the board doesn't make me feel important, it makes me feel involved in the community by working as a volunteer while neglecting my parents and business, but you don't have to worry about getting rid of me ... I know when to walk away on my own without your suggestion. So out of your hit list above -- 1 down, 8 to go!

Thanks to those who have worked hard for many months to try to provide a nice event for the local community, and an even bigger thanks to those who appreciate that hard work!

Perhaps the REAL LOSER(S) who starts these topics and complains about the festival and board members without any facts or bothering to get involved can now have my seat on the board! It's YOUR turn to step up, get involved, work hard, then be bashed by someone sitting behind a computer screen afraid to use their real name! Good Luck!

The worst of these would be Vicky Kelley. The parade didn't even have the Governor in it but we had to see Vicky's boy. Not a good switch. Talk about nepotism!

I was referring to the first 2 posters (want a good festival and my opinion) as probably being the same person ... the other 3 posts appeared as I was writing my response. Wouldn't want to offend someone thinking I was referring to them, as I won't be posting again, so bash away. Not sure why it shows me in Lynchburg, VA???

I don't know why anyone would be criticizing Jody since she gets out & works. Some of the board members are never seen unless they are on tv. And don't just name Vicky Kelley. Everyone knows that Joyce Greene has promoted her own family & friends for years. Joyce is also the nastiest woman on that hole board. She never smiles & is always complaining. It's way past time for her to go!

The hardest workers on that Board are

Ed & Jane Smith
Debra & Tom Hupp
Brad Kellison
Randy Carrico
Jody Light
Susie Miller

All the other good members have been run off by the dead weight.

Aren't Vicky Kelley & Joyce Greene related?

Not bashing any of them. If someone can do a better job then step up. I thought it went pretty good overall. I seen quite a few busting their butts up there doing what the rest of us dont. Easy to judge and say what would make it better but how many are willing to put the time in to make it better?

When the festival tries to delegate every activity in town like dictators in communist china then there is a problem.

The Strawberry festival had no car show this year because the board wanted the event organizers to pay $500 bucks to be "allowed" to have the show. That is an insane fee...that didnt occur before.

Car shows dont make money like that...its about just enjoying the hard work and money others have put into restoring a piece of american history. When the car club hosted a free cruise in at Bill Kelleys lot...the festival tried againt to collect a fee... The cruise in had no fees and was on private property....so they refused.
Then the festival told them they could not cook hot dogs and have drinks without paying the festival a fee...so they said to heck with it and didnt have the family cook out they normally have.

THE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE around the festival...the fees and junk non profit organziation is placing on this event is rediculous....

With what berry angry posted above me I'm amazed parking is still $5 and that the board isnt charging people a fee to let cars park on their lots

Why are there so many? Can anybody just sign up and start making decisions? I have family members on the Braxton Co. Fair and State Fair Boards. Both of those are bigger events than the Strawberry Festival that are handled by smaller committees. Having that many people involved just creates beuracracy and problems.

Wow- I've made the hate list. Oh well. Had to happen some time I guess. As for why there are so many of us, it takes a lot of people to do this. Most have full tine jobs and families and not one person gets paid. So feel free to join us anytime. Meetings are open to the public and then you will see what goes into a festival.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be thanked for trying to help, I'm just saying 36 board members is just about one for every group that was in the parade. Fortune 500 companies don't have 36 board members. It's just not efficient.

we are not all board. I am committee. That means I help out wherever needed. I do not have a vote in official business, but I am allowed to express my opinion. You also can not have 2 members on the board from the same family. There is a lot of background things that go on. There is a work crew that takes tables to EVERY event. Someone has to make all the signs that go on the cars. We are efficient in the business aspect. Not all people who are on the list vote on things. And NOTHING official is done without a vote. Come on down and check it out. Next month we start planning for next year.
