If you only get on here to make sarcastic &/or demeaning remarks, then please go to a different subject.

I would like to see this subject dedicated to helping voters find a GOOD candidate to run for Mayor so that we can get rid of the poor excuse for one that is in there now.

Keep in mind that whoever it is, they must live within the City Limits, must be eligible to vote & the smarter they are, the better.

Now let's start nominating.

Seriously people, Buckhannon needs a Mayor. We need an honest, law-abiding Mayor.

Since posting this, I have been thinking & there is one person who I think would be a great Mayor, if he would run.

Sid Phillips - are you available?

I think it should be the first person to go to city Council and tell them to still fix the City charter. The wording and legal issues can still be addressed and changed to "modernize" the charter. They Can't write a new charter, they can't change any fundamwntals or foundations, but they can eliminate stupid, archane, and blatant ignorant early 20th century language.
Since the mayor brought this issue up, and the Council backed him, it only seems to me after the amount of money spent for this "special election' something should be accomplished with the charter. This can be done by ordinance and changes nothing but vocabulary, and eliminates legal and inflamatory language. This should have been done before, but some people wanted a city manager and new form of gov.. DO SOMETHING FOR THE MONEY SPENT!

something was accomplished, the people's voice was heard, and now this mayor must face the election next year on his own!

Robin Simons, she lives in city limits, she's smart and honest, and can follow in her dad (Dale Riggs) footsteps.

Nancy Shobe. She was basically forced out of city hall into retirement by the so-called powers that be. But she is one of the few longtime loyal city officials this city has ever had.

And the last thing we need is Jay Harper in there! If you're going to do that, you ought to just go ahead & write in CJ Rylans - his Uncle.

Everyone in politics is crooked in some way or another. You will never find a perfect candidate that will be the perfect person. Just gotta get the less of the evils.

I think it should be a local business owner or someone with business experience.

Whoever is elected next should run on the campaign of taking care of day to day business with the intention of drawing jobs into the area, instead of meddling with non-substantial things like our current fools are.

I have heard the name Richard Edwards. I met the guy and he in involved in 3-4 city boards already. he runs the art gallery downtown. The reason i mention it is because he wrote a pretty critical letter in the Delta Wed. He seems to be independent from the politics of city, and will call them on it. Not so sure about JK Macatee.

Well "Do U Know", you seem to know alot about this Richard Edwards. I never heard of him before. Could you be Mr. Edwards? Seems if he is involved on 3-4 city boards already he is in pretty tight with the group in charge now. I don't think we need someone like that for mayor. His letter to the Record-Delta said Create Buckhannon should rewrite the charter - WHAT NONSENSE!!! We need someone who will not be controlled by the group in charge now. Just wonder if there is anyone out there?
