An individual arrested today on a 10 year federal warrant for drugs was a man who went to the commission meetings to support David Taylor in his pursuit of the Sheriff's position. This man was on the lam for over 10 years from the state of Texas. It was learned today from FBI records that there were 2 federal warrants out for his arrest. He is in custody awaiting transport by federal officers. He was arrested by Chief Deputy Mike Kelley.

It is a real shame it was not a package deal and Taylor was going with this criminal.

To think Taylor wanted to be Sheriff and his closet friends are drug running convicts!

I guess the people of Upshur County do KNOW their canidates!!!

Guilty because you know or relate to someone is the bucktown way, thats why Taylor needed to take the office. Congrats you fit right in with the system.

OK - so spill it. Who the heck was arrested today? I hate folks posting inuendos like this without putting a name so it can be verified. If this was indeed a felon in our town, we have a right to know who it is.

I agree - goes to show who Taylor's buddies really are -- look who his biggest financial supporters were too.

Taylor was his own worse enemy in the election. He started out by talking down to the voters and then went from bad to worse by thinking he was running for sheriff of Buckhannon instead of Sheriff of Upshur County.

Rick Edwards was arrested on 2 outstanding felony warrants for drug trafficking.

He tried to tell the officers he was not the one they were looking for but his fingerprints proved he lied about that too.

Is this the same guy who is also on our illustrous Create Buckhannon team? Interesting. And if he was indeed a big Taylor supporter, it's just gets funnier knowing that Taylor spouted that Upshur Co. doesn't have a drug problem, and look who his biggest supporters are. The dust is starting to settle, and the disturbing truth is becoming clearer every day.

OK SR2163WM - you seem to know alot about this, but why is his name listed at the jail, but still no picture or other information? Also, haven't seen a thing on either of the tv stations or online? Is this being covered up? If this guy has been on the lam for 10 yrs. on drug charges and FBI is taking him back to TX, that sounds pretty serious, but Ive not seen anything on it anywhere - but here??? Confusing

This guy is a real piece of work. He may have been "involved" in community activities, but trouble has always surrounded him. I hope they take him back to TX where he belongs & that he rots there!!
His attorney/neighbor stated that Edwards pays taxes & has not tried to hide from the state of TX...I call bullshit!! He has to work to pay taxes. The man doesn't WORK!!! He makes his wife do all the supporting of their family, while he "volunteer's" all of his time. He's suppose to be the man supporting his family, not laying drunk or high all the time!! He's a LOSER!!!
He has a exceptional wife & 3 exceptional daughter, but that's they only good things associated with this man!!
I'm sure he know about the warrant for his arrest. His wife & kids have been back to TX to visit their family & he has not....why??!! Did work hold him back....oh that's right...he doesn't work. Simple......he avoided the state because he KNEW about it!!!!!

According to what I saw on news and WV State Tax Mr. Edwards is the
co-owner of the Main Street Gallery Inc.. As a matter of fact listed as the Exec. Dir. also. So I'm not sure about the work thing. He claim's to be a stay at home father for his "exceptional daughters" so his wife can pursue her career. Hmmm, sounds like a real loser. Besides that he seems to be on numerous Brds and organizations. Let's see, I know personally of the Buckhannon Housing Auth., City planning Commission, SYC, Parks and Rec, Main street Arts Co-op, gallery, past PTO pres., Buckhannon youth Ambassadors, and tapes the city council, county commission meetings for cable. Hmmm a real loser. It does seem that he should stop "volunteering" all his time, and become a real man.

This guy, is a good guy. I've met him, and worked with him. Welcome to the 21st century. Some men now stay home and take care of their children so the wives can become successful. In fact the numbers of women being the primary wage earner is now at 35%. Yea women! I'm a stay at home dad, and personally don't see how he can do all those things. Also, from what I read, the warrant was not a federal warrant, but from San antonio, or Bexar County to be exact. The Feds would have been able to find him 10 yrs ago. I can tell you he is not a big fan of create buckhannon. We have discussed that before, since I am not also.

The thing I find funniest is that the paper said he didn't realize he'd been indicted or whatever for the drug charge????? How do you NOT know something like that? If the poster above is accurate in saying the wife and daughters returns to TX, but he doesn't, that speaks volumes. Wonder if the poor wife knew this. Crazy stuff
huh?

Pursue her career??!! She's the manager at Pizza Hut! I'm not going to argue over the fact of whether he's a loser or not. I KNOW him...not just what u see on the news! He's a real piece of work. He does have "exceptional daughters," and it's really them I feel sorry for the embarrassment he has placed on them.....yet again!! He may sit on some boards, but he's caused many problems & has been kicked out of many things! He drinks like a fish & still uses illegal drugs.

I'm not saying anything about stay at home dads, if that's what a dad wants to do then so be it. Now a days it takes two incomes to survive, unless one has a good paying job. His wife works her butt off, they've had their struggles & he still chooses not to help support his family financially. That's my only point, same point even if tables were turned & his wife was the stay at home mom.
Be thankful u had a good experience with him, there aren't lots that have!
