I recently seen a classified add that Corhart Refractories in Buckhannon is doing some hiring. Does anyone know anything about Corhart, like how much do they pay ? Is it a good Job ? Is it hard work/fast paced work ? Is it hard to get hired ? What do they do ? Does alot of people get fired from there ( high overturn )? Just basic knowledgeable information. Thanks all !

Corhart Refractories manufactures ceramic products used primarily in glass and steel furnaces.

I used to live on the same street and have been in the place when I was a teenager. Its pretty hot back in the work area cause of furnaces and stuff

Do you have to basically know someone to get a job there or do they hire quite frequently ?

Depends on what your skills are - probably best place in town to work considering the pay and benefits and extra stuff they do for their employees. Not easy to get on, but once you're there, most folks seem to never leave. Good Luck
Oh, some people leave there only not in a good way. Its a good job, good benefits but you better check how many people have died who worked their and if not yet dead thean suffering from some kind of cancer.

If you have lived near and have been around their since you were a teenager you might want to have a GOOD physical. Talk to some of the families who had law suits against Corhart. You probably won't get to talk to the employee because chances are he or she is gone.

I moved to the other side of town in 2000. Have been checked out a couple times by drs through the years since and haven't been told anything bad. About being in the place I used to hit golf balls in my back yard and occasionally they would go into their lot. They always kept the gates open so i would just go over and get it. I know a couple people who worked there but that too was years ago I dunno bout their health other than they are still around.

I dunno about at the Buckhannon location specifically but you can google and see through the years other people have had lawsuits against Corhart. Not sure if they are related to health issues or not. I didn't really read about any of the cases because that stuff bores me.

I used to work there too, and know many who have and still do and have NEVER, ever heard anything regarding health risks - I hope you're not just trying to start something without facts. I know several current and former employees, even some who didn't voluntarily leave, but I've never heard a word about any danger there - be careful what you accuse a company of.
If you used to work there then you have not been there long. I would never type something on here if I did not know it was true. Again, check with some of the older people and check with law firms who handled all of the law suits. True it was a few years ago but it is true and some of the people are still suffering from different illnesses. I just saying for healths sake check it out. Again, the money is good and the benefits are good but surely a person should do some checking. The company might get mad but they can't deny facts.

I think its a production facility, kind-of like Weyerhauser, except they deal with glass and insulation. Correct me if I'm wrong. I heard they only start your pay out at like $8.00 maybe a little more, an hour. I have tried a couple different times to get on and couldn't. I've heard of a couple people trying to get work there, but its hard to get hired on there.
