If you folks want to protest something, why don't you protest the legalization of drugs?

Before you get your panties in a bunch, listen to what I have to say.

If ALL drugs were legal, crime would go down, we would spend way less money on housing drug related criminals, way less taxes on drug task forces, all kinds of positive changes would happen.

I know at first, drug use may skyrocket, some people would die, sure, but the ones who died are just a waste in this world anyway. Let them OD, who cares?

Once people get over the "omg drugs are legal" stage, drug use would fall to an all time low. We could have government ran stores, that sold ALL drugs for way cheaper prices than any current drug dealer, thus killing out all of the drug cartels, no more war on drugs. The government could tax these drugs by 50% of the total price, killing off the national debt in no time.

Children would lose the will to use drugs, because with it being legal, it would be no longer "rebelling against the law and or parents". They would see all the bad drug users die quickly and realise that there are real consequences for their actions.

Patients with chronic pain, or people in car accidents could get the medicines they need easily. No more suffering for people who really need these medicines, and if people abuse them, well its their own fault.

Employers could still drug test their workers, and fire them for using drugs while at work, or even at all if they wish.

If people want to sit in their own homes and get high, who does it really bother? Only the ones who do it.

We could build state of the art rehab facilities, which we should already have, for those who wish to stop using drugs. We can educate our children, what all these drugs do to your body, and your life.

Some people may think it would make the world horrible, but people already do any drug they wish to. Cops already have to worry about DUI's and all of that. They waste so much money trackign down drug offenders that they don't have the time to catch the real criminals.

We should live in a free world where we can make our own choices. People getting high to relieve stress is not a bad thing. I would even argue that it may be healthy, as long as its done in moderation. Stress can kill a person, and this world is full of it.

Why not take advantage of our #1 cash crops in america to feed the poor, to help educate our children, and to help those who need it? With taxes on drugs we could become the world's richest, most powerful, and most peaceful country in all the world.

Now start protesting!

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard! Geez! What is wrong with people?! Only a drug addict would be protesting for legalization of drugs.

I agree! Also, before anyone says anything, I am NOT a drug user. The most I've ever had was alcohol. But it makes complete sense.

To the person who mentioned the face eater in Florida: clearly drugs not being legal isn't preventing anything. Also, it was confirmed there were no bath salts in his system..just marijuana. And I don't know of anybody who has smoked pot that's turned into a raging beast

I'm not a drug user either.

I smoked some pot in my teenage years, but hell who didn't?

I just think it should be our own choice, and the government could make a lot of $ off it!

Also about the face eater, that is 1 case, how many people die in car crashes every day? Not to mention that bath salt is a very dangerous drug, that was developed simply because all the others are illegal.

If the drugs we had were legal there wouldn't be any need for much more dangerous solutions like bath salt, or the K2 weed stuff.

I tried the K2 stuff 1 time myself, that shit is kinda scary, way worse than smoking pot. If pot was legal, who would need K2? know what I mean?

Prescription drug abuse is the number one cause of preventable death from age 18-49 in the state of west Virginia. It kills more people than car accidents. What you're suggesting isn't possible.

Nope. Some very high-profile people who are not drug addicts think it's a good idea. Amongst them are Penn Jillette (the larger, louder half of Penn & Teller), John Stossel of the FOX Business network, and libertarian presidential candidate and former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson.

None of those gentlemen use or abuse drugs, and Jillette and Johnson don't even drink. They just see the futility of the "war on drugs" and the civil rights violations that have ensued.

Portugal decriminalized drugs, and it worked out quite well for them. There is no reason to think it would not go equally well here.

Exactly. There are already laws against getting drunk or high and then hurting someone with your car, your meat cleaver, your shotgun, or your fists.

None of the things that the Chicken Littles wail about ever come to pass. Why should legalizing drugs be any different?

You know how many people would lose their job if the "war on drugs" ended? Cops, dea, boarder officers, corrections officers, lawyers, judges, politicians, not to mention all the support staff and administrative people. It's not going to happen

And just how would you purchase these drugs? If you are using drugs, you can't work. So you have to steal in order to get money or things to sell or trade for drugs. I'm all for letting you idiots on drugs set around and rot yourselves to death. It's the imposing on innocent people I have a problem with. The majority of crime in this area is drug related. You cannot work safely and do drugs. You need a job to buy your "legalized" drugs. How in the hell will you do that? You can't, you would have to steal just as is being done now.
