Unless I'm completely delusional, I thought I read in May's PI that we are getting an Applebee's in Paris, and that this restaurant was to be open by Thanksgiving.

Has that deal with the City fallen through? There's not a shovel in the ground anywhere. Anyone know anything about this?

Just wondering.
It is still coming

It's still on... but being held up for reasons I can't go into... not even here. But, until proven otherwise it will be after the first of the year. It is not a dead deal... just holding.
Maybe I will go into more details later. But, hoping there will be something in the paper to clear things up.

hope they figure it out soon, the fast food in this town is horrid. unclean, with rude employees and they cant seem to get the orders right. Not talking about just one, either, tried them all. Best so far on getting it right was dairy delight. Don't care for most restaurants in this town, they use cheap meat, and teens that do not appreciate that they have a job. Need something new, something with corporate guidelines. new blood. Not to mention i am tired of Date night including a long drive to go eat. With gas the price it is now, it costs as much as the meal!

How about a Hardee's again in Paris?

Have you stopped in the Hardee's in Murray lately? They have some really good food on the menu.

Send them a note, maybe they will reconsider.

I used to love the Tom's Steak House! Still love their pizza ( Like PI Pizza downtown also) but the quality of their other menu items has declined over the last few years.

Supposedly we have a Chick-Fil-A coming to Paris....Has anyone heard that??

I work across from where it's suppose to be going (Applebees that is). There is no progress but yet they have hired people. They held a big job fair three weeks ago.

Paris is NOT all bad, it has it's good points. It's not like people come here to eat anyway. It's for retirees and tourists/vacationers. Retirees obviously can't taste anything anymore, and vacationers are cooking out at the lake. We do not need anymore fast food. The kids they hire do not care about the business they work for, hence the lousy service and bad food to be found. We do need more chain restaurants with higher quality food and higher standards. Out with the greasy mom and pop joints. I can make that stuff at home! I want something that's going to taste the same, that i wouldn't normally make at home. Most food places here are for people that just don't want to cook that night or are plain sick of being home and they want to say they have been out. What would be great is if we got a chain that was not already in Murray so we could get some money coming in from that direction possibly instead of our money leaving the town to go there or somewhere else.

Yes they (Applebee's) did have a hiring process out at the Hampton Inn several weeks ago, but believe it was for manager only, but could have been for others.

Yes, I did hear a "rumor" of Chick-Fil-A, but nothing since?

I agree... Paris is not that bad... we are better than many and we could make some improvements, but one of the biggest improvements we could make is for local people to stop shooting Paris down and instead talk up what is good about Paris. There are many towns right here in West Tennessee that would love to have some of the things we have.

I agree ---- No more fast food in Paris! And no more greasy spoons! How 'bout some healthy non-chain restaurants? Or a Thai place? Or Japanese? But Hardees?? Please.

The place where Lewis and Williams was is run by nice people and they're trying to do a good job. The same goes for Prater's Taters.

Prater Taters, while a local owned place, is really an awesome place! That's what we need, more originality. Things that are unique and interesting. I am sorry if you felt i was shooting Paris down, that was not my intent. The only problem I have with Paris is the customer service in the restaurants. I always tell the manager if someone did an excellent job or if they did a lousy one. If people don't speak up we can't fix the problems and make the improvements. The younger crowd needs to leave Paris and see what happens in the rest of the world if you do a crappy job so they can return with some kind of work ethic. The older crowd is generally courteous and kind people, though I have experienced a small amount of reverse discrimination from some in the business's because I was not young enough to have mom and dad's money and not old enough, in their opinion, to be retired. But for the most part that isn't the norm.
Paris is a great place to grow up, go see the world, and return to relax and enjoy your life.(just avoid the gossips..lol)
