haha who are you to pass that judgement, guess you don't pay taxes just want to stir the pot, drama queen, the question the poster posed is valid. Who covers the insurance if there is an accident? Friends and family may say they deserve the perks due to the job but then those perks should be written into the job description. I assume you have a cell, take pictures of the car with them getting into or out of the unit then send them to the comptrollers office. If your interested just shout back on here and I will add that link. If it is legit usage then no problem, if as I suspect it is not legit then they are the only ones that can reprimand local department without dragging you into the drama.

ok i just had a gripe about cops not doing there job on another topic, but this is bull $hit, if they take the car home that mean they could be called out at any time, faster respond time for the officer.so when the officer is going in on their regular shift so what if he or she drops family off at school or their job.you know it could be the last time together.so just maybe if we give a little we might get a lot back. p.s. if i could get my children out of trouble i would do all i could and so would you, so get off the sheriff's back
its not ok

I don't believe they should be able to drive their kids or spouse to school or anywhere else in a county owned car. The car should be for official business only.
Like hmmm wrote, who will pay for injuries occurred if there is an accident?
I don't see city officers or troopers driving their family around. I would like to see what the county policy is on this.

Yeah, and they should have to walk to eat lunch too! Official business only! And I personally don't think they should be able to start their county owned vehicle in the morning to defrost the windshield, such a waste of gas and precious county tax dollars.

I agree this is complete ridiculousness...I'd be willing to bet whoever started this nonsense did it at work while they were supposed to be working!! Or even worse while they are at home without a job or employment!!!

Huge liability issue for city or County if passengers hurt. I think they pay their personal use mileage.

It's not right! Just like the weakly co electric company. I have seen more than once a man and his little boy in a company truck pulling a fourwheeler on a sat. And they want to raise your bill

My father was a city police officer and many times drove me to school in his police car. Or picked me up from school in it. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Sheriff and his officiers, people with badges in HC do as they please. Even if they need correcting, nobody wants to be the ONE targeted when they do. It's a fact. If you don't believe me, call up one of them like I did and complain about something. you'll see.

The sheriffs do what they want when they want. Look at how many times Mellon was given and how many times Lester was given. The sheriff knew they were both drunks and kept them on until they screwed up so bad he had to let them go, I guess if its ok to go to Dover to cheat on your wife in a county car its ok to drive your family members around until there is an accident and family member gets hurt. Then the sheriff will throw that guy to the curb because it was against the rules.

Mellon is a cop again in Murray. LOL And Lester is still on the county payroll. He was transferred to the recycling center. How many other people can get fired from the police dept. and then transferred.

I know, you're going to say he didn't get fired. Let's just say, he was a cop and all of the sudden he's not.....hmmmm...... fired? I think so.

When the Bass boy went crazy he fired him. he didn't get to transfer. ask mr. Bass about it.
