Anyone know where to get comparative information about our upcoming local election- specifically comissioner city of Paris, and county comissioner? Thanks!

I think we need to look at candidate's backgrounds. I think it speaks to judgement and character when making decisions for our community. I don't want a county commissioner who only represents or is for one group of people who live in this community. I don't want a candidate who says the right things in public but his lifestyle or conversations behind closed doors say something clearly different.

Which candidate are you referring to in particular? City or County Commission?

Both. You can't be for just one group of citizens! Morals and values are still important!

Don't you think we have had enough elected officials who are womanizers?? Where are the candidates with strong family values and a clear vision for improvement to Paris and Henry County?

I think we need new people on the City Commission and those on there or those reelected need to get a new direction.

But, with that said... we need new ideas that will bring in new business and new jobs. New business covers everything... anything that will create a new job... one job or 500, but things are not happening around here as fast as they should.

The biggest project ongoing is the Bethel University project on Tyson Ave. I am hoping that this building is the first of many that Bethel has planned.

If they really want to start/build a campus in Paris it will require a lot more construction. Once that starts I believe that will create a new building boom... as people will then see that Bethel is serious about building a new campus in Paris. Paris need a college of it's own.

However, I believe that this first building will create some new interest once it's in full operation. The new walkway across Tyson Ave. is going to change the visual landscape in that area a lot. I know it's just a walkway, but it's going to have a dramatic change on what people think when they drive through.

Sometimes perception is as important as what you have... you never know what will attract new business, but new ideas need to come from city hall.

So, it really doesn't matter if new people are elected or not we need some new ideas and suggestions... let's get a new vision for the future of Paris and put some serious plans into action... not 20 years from now, but starting NOW!!!

What kind of vision do these candidates possess? We know the public record of the ones who have served. Obviously they don't share your same vision. They want to keep those retirement dollars coming in. The morals and judgement in their private lives should also be considered. If you can't decide what's right or wrong then, how can you make sound decisions for a community? This goes for all candidates, county candidates included. Family values and strong morals should be important to the voter. This is what our country was built on. Also why are we paying for an industrial board to bring in industry here but they don't produce. They get paid very well. Who's holding them accountable?

What do you know that the rest of us don't? All the candidates are married except the lady running for the city and the man running for the county. I think the man has been engaged for 3 or 4 years to the same girl. So tell us what you know already so we can know who not to vote for!

He's not engaged, that's a front. It would be luck to catch them together.

...now, on to the reason the first poster posted...it's obvious you have something brewing. Spit it out. We don't know what you're talking around.

There is no source for comparative study. Where have you been? These are not candidates for president. Nobody is studying them or putting out honest information. Not all of them even showed up for the recent forum...and not all candidates were invited, just those with a challenger.

I know the county candidate very well and he is engaged. She commutes out of town to work and runs two other businesses. He has worked for the City of Paris for more than 20 years and has had a barbershop for more than 15 years. With as much as they work, when would you have time to see them anywhere? No scandal here. Maybe look at some of the other candidates??
More importantly, stick to the issues!! He is the only candidate in any local election that has laid out his vision concerning the jobs issue in Henry County. Not only has he given his vision, he's given a plan of exactly what needs to be done and how to get it done! The other candidates just list what clubs they belong to. Just talk with anyone who goes to his barbershop or works with him and they will tell you that he has many ideas that would work right here in Henry County to get the county moving in the right direction.
As far as background goes, he comes from a very good family. His father taught school in Henry County for at least 40 years and his mother still works at the Post Office. He has had a good upbringing and is a good man with good values and morals.
Back to the real issue: JOBS! He knows how and has experience in networking with other organizations. You don't always have to reinvent the wheel! He is the only candidate that has laid out a plan for job growth. You need a commissioner who is concerned for all of the demographic of the county and not just one particular group. He is the right candidate for this position. He's got my vote!

I heard the radio show too. Mostly ebonics and run-on sentences. I didn't hear a plan either.

I'd like to see him win and shake up somethings with the commission.

No plan was described. Lots of words spoken but no plan.
