I don't know why, but I'm always amazed to hear stories like this. It's almost impossible to believe that people can do these things. I guess "what is wrong with people" sums it up.

Come on people, walk a mile in his shoes. The man was obviously at wits end and didn't know what to do to take care of his parents. I am not defending what he did, but he obviously didn't feel that he had a choice. Elder care is very expensive and taking care of one's parents while trying to meet expenses is very hard. I feel for all involved. This was a no-win situation.

I think this is the end of the U.S.A as we know it. He didn't take the locks off the door of the car & make sure they couldn't get out. What ever just happened to an accident. I understand that the man had dementia, but why is it this man's life the responsiblity of this guy in this case? When are people just responsible for themselves? The son could have completely refused to care for the old man at all - and then the guy probably would have died at home or sat there lonely by himself. It makes me sick that the state is charging this man - the sole care taker of his mother - with the unfortunate death of an 85 year old. What has society come too? Really?

I agree with NGS and RoxyRhae. The man has a history of at least trying to make his parents safe while he worked. I think he locked the doors so that they would be safe. The elderly are often fearful, and with good reason sometimes. Dementia patients often wander off and get lost. He used poor judgement, but I don't think this merits a charge of murder. Try getting some of the REAL criminals off the streets.
