Please do not take this the wrong way because I can see you care about this countries military, but today is not about those of us that are still here.

Today is about those great heroes that gave everything including their life for this country. They are truly saints.

Veterans day is in Nov. for those of us still around.

I was always taught it is a far better thing to make the other guy fighting for his country or allah or whatever die. I don't mean that disrespectful at all. Most of my friends that were killed would agree 100%. I don't know about all the "giving their lives stuff" I think that most would not say it wasnt given but rather taken, I think that the "giving" they did was putting themselves in a situation where it could be taken from them .
I am still alive but many I fought with are dead now. Kinda hard to reconcile that sometimes because who decides who lives and who dies? Why did the a$$hole point his RPG at the second HMMWV and not the first?
My first friend lost was blown up in Beirut in '83, too many since then.
I'll probably be drinking until late tomorrow night because that what I do, I won't be alone in this world drinking either.
Just for all the knee jerk POS's who what to say I'm being disrespectful or what the f___ ever, I have more respect than you fricken know cause you dont know nothing about me.
I like topix cause I can say stuff that I cant say, dont get all offended.
Enjoy your weekend, thats all

Have a good weekend, Red, and hoist one for my great-great-great uncle, who died in the War of Northern Aggression. My great-great-great granddaddy lived through it, but died after he was released from one of the North's POW camps. He made it home 2 days after being released and died 6 hours later, he was in such poor shape.

You think Andersonville was bad? Try Elmira prison camp in Elmira, NY...

It was General George S Patton who said

No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.

Lets don't forget my ancestors the native Americans who were marched down the trail of tears so the white man could take their fertile farmland.

survival of the fittest. Everyone has a turn at being on top for a while. Shouldn't have let people just show up and take everything from them. Anyway they have nothing to do with Memorial Day.

I'm descended from Cheyenne and Cherokee, so don't go preaching to the choir. But this post is about Memorial Day, not the Trail of Tears.
