6 men jailed after $56,000 in drugs reportedly seized

One Floyd man and five Polk County men were in jail Tuesday night on charges in connection with the seizure of $56,000 in crystal meth in Cedartown last week. The six remain in the Bartow and Polk county jails on immigration and custom holds.

What a waste the Rockmart PD is. The drug and criminal activity in this town is completly out of hand and it's all because of poor police enforcement. I have witnessed first hand how the officers of Rockmart respond and handle criminals. You have to look very hard to find police in Rockmart. You can ride through town anytime and you will see tags from different counties. The word is out "If you want to break the law go to Rockmart cause the law is weak there." What a shame! This would be a good place to open a police department. I have attempted to contact the GBI but they have to be requested by local law enforcement. I don't think Larry Harris is going to ask for assistance. It is a fact that just recently a couple of Rockmart Officers told my wife and I that every time they get close to the dealers they get pulled back. I don't know what that meant but it is bad for the citizens of Rockmart. Hopefully someone important will read this and do something. MAYBE!!! I know for a fact that if they won't do anything and as a citizen you express the fact that you will do something, they get angry and threaten you. I have experianced this firsthand. Hopefully the leaders in Rockmart and Polk County will force the law to do their job. It is a sad waste of money when the people pay for law enforcement and do not get it. Will someone please help us?

No, they're too busy sitting behind vacant buildings or at 4-way stops trying to catch someone rolling thru a stop sign .. priorities, people. Hwy 278 is like the Indy 500 in the morning, yet you don't even see them out there.

Drive down Morgan Valley Rd. and that convenience store is a mecca .. people all out in the road. Loose dogs running everywhere, even downtown.

You people just don't get it. The Rckmart Police are constantly taking people to jail everyday 2 or 3 at a time. If the Citizen's of Rockmart would pull together and report the drug use when they see it then it would be a little easier for the Oficers to get soem of the bigger drug dealers. People Officers are only humans and they can only do so much..........
