Most of the folks I know that are calling for gun control to prevent more senseless deaths of kids have no problem at all with the 55 million that have been killed by abortion since Roe v Wade. Wonder if Johnny is one of them?

sorry Johnny, I made a poor attempt at sarcasm. Guess you didn't get it. I am in the trucking business and I would like to keep my customers-not run them off. Don't think we would get along well. Your unemployment getting close to running out?

I say if Washington tries to limit or remove any more of our rights we revolt and demand all those involved resign from office or be removed.
I, like many others, took an oath to uphold and defend the constitution of the USA but that becomes null and void when those elected to lead and represent us slowly chip away at our freedoms.
A time is coming when one will have to decide if you are on the side of tyranny or freedom and whether you will be willing to fight and possibly die for it.

Revolt, that comment is revolting. I disagree completely with a stricter ban on guns. What I would like to see is a stricter enforcement of the laws that we have with mandated punishments for those that commit then crimes. If you put people to death they will never kill anyone else. The insane people who commit shootings like we have just witnessed are to be pitied but again can never be funtioning members of our society. The lesson will be taught.

Also it is interesting that tobacco kills 460,000 americans each year and deaths from guns are not even close to that number. Ban Tobacco it would save a lot more lives in the long run and while we are going about banning things lets ban alcohol as well. It seems that as a society we cannot handle it very well and it kills more people than guns do every year in fact many of the deaths caused by guns comes from people who are using alcohol.

Banning things becomes dangerous as we lose the freedoms that we hold so dear. Knives would have to be banned as would fertilizer. Cars kill many more people than guns yet no one has mentioned banning automobiles. Knee jerk reactions are dangerous from either side of the aisle. Let us begin by holding everyone accountable for the enforcement of the existing laws.

Yep. At least they didn't slap a bunch of regs on diesel... but it makes me wonder about the price suddenly going higher than gasoline... hmmmmm

One of the things that regulates the price of Diesel is demand. In the last couple of months commerce has picked up quite a bit and so the price of Diesel to transport those goods has also gone up. Gasoline is a bit flat at the moment because we are in the off season. I expect we will start seeing those prices inching up as Spring approaches.

I usually put Amonium Nitrate on my yard in the early Spring. I haven't had any problems getting any from my local Nursery in Fayetteville.

No, I'm talking about how the price of diesel always was cheaper than gas -- so much so that just before the OKC bombing I was actually considering getting diesel truck because it would be cheaper to run than my gas truck. Then after they wet their pants over NH4NO3 and ANFO, the price went way higher than regular gas and has stayed there.

I'm not usually much of a conspiracy nut, but I think this was a knee-jerk reaction to OKC, then the oil companies realized there was an untapped market they could gouge, and here we are with diesel higher than gas, with the associated higher prices on everything due to increased transportation costs.

As for ammonium nitrate, do you get just the pure stuff or is it mixed in fertilizer? And how much are you getting at a time?

I normally get a 40lb bag to cover 3 acres. Straight AM then mix it with 10-10-10.

I remember the ANFO controversy. I don't recall that the prices spiked just because of that though.

Your nursery must know you, then. I tried to get NH4NO3 delivered when I had my farm, so that we could fertilize all the pastures (roughly 18 acres in Tallapoosa) and they wouldn't sell us that much.

Of course that was back in 2003 or so.

Diesel -- yeah, I was in the market for a farm truck in 2002, and I was about to buy a diesel dually but then the diesel prices spiked.

So I bought a Dodge Ram 1500 with a V8. The year before they brought out the Hemi.

Oops, got my dates and farms mixed up. I was looking at the dually in 98, and trying to get ammonium nitrate in 99. We had a farm in Monticello, then moved to Tallapoosa in 2002.
