What is up with the shrine to past law enforcment officers painting on building in Tallapoosa? Some of the people look like current people in law enforcement that are still living? are those people supposed to die next or something?

Seriously? A shrine to a bunch of sociopathic tax collectors with blue lights? What's next, a shrine to IRS agents?

The beautiful mural is a mother's tribute to her son.

said the Nazi boot licker. Actually, no, I have never been arrested. Have you? Why "must" we have respect for policemen? Most of them are just thugs with a badge. Their primary function is to raise revenue for the government they work for. And why would I want to become one of these jack-booted thugs?

You know most of the law enforcement officers wow you really know a lot people. The primary purpose is to keep the citizens safe by arresting those or ticketing those that break the law. I must assume that this has been a problem for you.

That may be what they tell idiots like you, but their primary function is to confiscate money from the citizens.

there are shrines all around us, some elaborate like mount rushmore which took 14 years to create. and some like a cross on the roadside, while simple in nature for the most part they are heart felt and a tribute to the deceased. sadly, there are and will always be disrespectful citizens.......... and that's WHY we need law enforcement... l8tr

Bman2, I laugh at you calling me an idiot. Although they do create revenue for the city, I can assure you it's NOT the reason they work as police officers. Unfortunately this city is full of meth heads and when you have meth heads you also have theft, domestic violence and people walking the streets at all hours which is what our city police spend most of their time tending too. So stop running your stupid mouth unless you know what you are talking about. Thank you TPD for the thankless job you do!!! I, for one, appreciate it!

said the sheep. Yeah, we need law enforcement to take care of us "disrespectful" citizens who refuse to bow down and lick their boots. Hitler would have loved you.

LOL never licked any boots,i am not an "Ovis aries" or the common sheep, except in the biblical sense. and as for the Hitler comment, he would not approve of my acceptance of the Jewish people. now for the final part of bowing, i have on many occasions bowed to my God, but never to a man... however i did swear to defend the constitution of the U.S. of all enemies, foreign or domestic.... standing proudly son... now back to the topic of this families tribute to her son, even the pyramids were shrines to entomb and memorialize their leaders...B, don't go around thinking nobody likes you and that you are not loved, God loves you and so do i..l8tr

I think the shrine/tribute is of the woman's family and of the Sheriff even though it is a poor likeness. Still kinda weird to look at when I step out of church each Sunday morning. A historical or nature theme would have looked better in the downtown Tallapoosa area.

Since she is on the City coucil she can put anything on her building, but what if every business owner wanted to have a memory mural painted on their building? She would vote them down in a second. I do know one picture is her son, and the other is son, father, grandfather, sister, and Sheriff Eddie Mixon, so technically it is not a memorial as some of the people on the mural are still alive. I do however pray for her and her daughter the loss of her husband (father) and son (brother), I can not imagine the loss she and her daughter must gone through.
I do think however this was done in haste and no concern for the policies of the city for public buildings.

I have to agree here. These are in violation of the sign ordinance and very distracting to the historic buildings. So unfortunate that fore thought was not used here by the city in passing their approval.
