Perhaps you missed my point. Crimes were committed, that is fact. Color of victims or suspects does not negate that fact. The fact someone did drugs is irrelevant now, the time for intervening is over now. The backstory, allegations, and investigation does matter. But splitting hairs over race is complete and utter nonsense. Violent crimes happen everyday all over the world to people of all creed and color. No place is safe from violent crime, not even beautiful quiet Swain County.

The color of your skin, religion, or sexual preference "should" not in anyway shape or form sway or hold bearing to the fact that a crime was committed. It's too easy to get caught in the stupid details rather than stick with the cold hard truth and that is murder was committed, robbery was committed, illicit drugs and other activities were involved but asanine assumptions about race have zero to do with it. That is the quickest way to see convictions fall short of justice. It's too easy to think of things in black or white or to try to make sense of the unbelievable... sometimes you have to realize you can't control everything but that doesn't mean you should live in fear either.

What happened here is baffling, hurtful, and so very tragic. I knew Scott, I went to school with Scott, I even went out with him for a while waaaaaaay back in high school. I think the people who did this, whatever their reasons, color, religion, or any specific defining thing about their characters is null and void save the fact they felt they could take someone's life for god only knows why. The act was cold, heartless, and full of malice. They ended 2 people's lives and tried to end another. What kind of person(s) feels they can do such a thing? It's not just some black dude from Ga is it? It may be over drugs or money, one crime does not negate another.

I'm just saying people shouldn't get caught up in the dumb details. Stick to the facts, investigate, try this case and punish the suspects. Don't dumb this down to be about race or even just about drugs. There is so much more in play here, yes I'd bet my shoes the level of corruption and plotting is very deep but dumbing this down will not do anything except allow those details be swept away and possibly prevent a full conviction.

I wish, I hope, I pray, that every person involved in this tragedy no matter how large or small a part they play be outted and properly prosecuted. The awful thing is two people had to die for this level of scrutinty to be cast on the subject but if anything good can come of it perhaps justice will prevail and in the wake of this a new enlightened community will come to life. Drugs, like disease are not color blind. It's time to wake up to the larger epidemic.

It's apalling what has happened to my hometown it makes me angry that drugs have soiled the gorgeous quiet mountains I still long for; I often have hopes of returning to retire some day. And yes, drugs have even found their way into my family. They are inescapable, it's pandemic and it requires every citizen to help fight it.

Not if you're using a proxy server overseas. I really don't care if someone knows my ip, because it all will be run through "Echelon" in Fort meade, Maryland. Most people never do quite realize how many other countries monitor your IP address if you going on one of the servers in their country.
