Full story: Asheville Citizen-Times

Medford "can't stand or sit for more than fifteen minutes" said JUdi Bell..
Heck we can't stand Medford for longer than two. Best Christmas present ever. Thank you JUdge.

The non surprise was what he said about "hurting anyone who came after his family" Like we didn't know that. Dear God.. like we didn't know they had a meeting at HOmers on a night when there was a gunman at a former aldermans house. Like we didn't see him traipsing up to Homers on numerous occassions for either plotting or drinking sessions or both. LIke that wasn't the Boss himself and a few of his goons parked outside my house in a CROWN VIC the very night of the damn Woodfin town meeting. Gee ..how swift you guys left when I called the cops. Have a scanner in that big gas hog?

MEDFORD..hope you rot in jail. May you and your buddies rot in hell.

Let the dispassionate who have no real emotions for those this fool has hurt, make disparaging remarks, I DO NOT CARE.
These men need to be locked up forever.
Moore needs to be next.
Homer can watch and tremble in fear as his protectors fall.
These are men that endorse rape of women. These are men who refuse to punish pedophiles. ESpecially if those pedophiles or rapists are powerful people. Gambling ..hah..maybe like Al Capone the FBI had to get him on something.. gambling was the easiest. Those rape kits without names SPOKE VOLUMES.
FRY them..
if ever there was an excuse for righteous wrath.this is it. IT is time for the citizens of this town to stop consuming for a minute and think about who your leaders are. IF you know that someone has hurt someone and you do naught about it, your as bad as the criminals who cause the hurt.
Wake up ASheville..your conscience is calling

Watching Max Wilson on the news was a joke. Max was no angel when he was the U.S. Marshall for this district. There was a problem over cattle that he had seized. Somehow he attempted to convert them to his property. He was replaced over this. Then the great Buck Lyda brought him into the sherrif's department as his Chief Deputy. One night he went to the evidence room with some of his poker playing buddies and took several porn videos out of the evidence room to show at his weekly poker game. He did return them, but evidence is tainted when this happens. Medford's chief deputy's wife was working in the property room at that time. When I confronted Lyda about this his reply was that Wilson didn't mean any harm. Louis Green can tell all on all the past of Wilson, Lyda, Harrison and Medford. There was a plot by Lyda and Harrison to do Wilson in according to Green. So if Wilson thinks that the charges are a bunch of crap, then he should look at himself. Lyda and his group were so corrupt that it was widely known by all who worked there. Lyda took a married girl friend to Washington to watch a pro basketball game. They had to repay the money back to the county. Wilson was Lyda's hatchet man in many ways. So Medford has just carried on from Lyda. I left after many years at the department for a better enviroment.

Keeping Bobby in jail is nothing more than a publicity stunt. If you read the daily arrest reports, you'll see they let all these damn Mexicans out on bond quite regularly. I'm sure Bobby's guilty to some extent, but there's no reason to hold him until MARCH, for God's sake. He ain't going anywhere.

his command of english was frightening wwasn't it? His little red nose hinted at his recreational pastimes.
I sincerely hope with all my heart and soul that all you honourable men who work in law enforcement have done your duty for the first ammendment and told all you know. If we peons of no value in the community can risk our necks telling the truth, then everyone who knows anything should SCREAM long and loud.

It is enough that you tell these colourful stories of the not so distant tainted past of these men. Still, I'd like to have some faith that there are heros who realize how fragile our rights to free speech are. I've seen glimpses of heroism in the stories and bravery of the folks speaking out here. Thank you for the hard work you put into this county.

Truth Detector dear..
Bobby and his goons have had the public by the short and curlies for far too long. We should not have to live in fear of our law enforcement. When the head sheriff and his goons feel it is their right to show up at the homes of folks who disagree with them, then it's necessary to keep the old crooked man locked up. He's as predictable as a rattlesnake, as untrustworthy as Nixon and as dumb as a rock. If he thinks the public had not figured him out years ago, he's got another thing coming. He's more dangerous than illegals because he abused the trust of the public. He put on a front of the "great Sheriff" out rescuing the elderly. BS. He's a mean , hateful, tactless, conspiring , two faced liar.
Hope he leaves this world before he costs the taxpayers another dime. He'd be doing us all a favour.

Poor ol' Bobby can't sit or stand for more than 15 minutes ...

but somehow he manages to get to Harrah's Casino where amazingly, he has scrimped together a few quarters from his pension to gamble - "the only entertainment he has" says his lady friend (apparently she is unable to "entertain" him).

And she's concerned that he will not get his "fix" of oxycontin!

What a hoot!

This seems a bit extreme. I've no use for Medford or his cronies but none strike me as a flight risk.

These dam mexicans haven't extorted money from illegal video machine owners, padded campaign funds with stolen money, committed fraud while serving as an elected official, communicated threats, and all the other crap (all felonies), that this jackass has!

think for a moment, does an illegal alien have the ability to arrest you, does an illegal alien have the authority to seize your property, does an illegal alien have the appearence of the "color of law" to threaten to take your children and place you in a mental institutionn? don't get me wrong, I am 1000% against illegal aliens but you are talking apples and oranges here. A law enforcement officer who would extort and threaten for family or a trip to harrahs would certainly be assumed to doas much if not worse to save his won skin. That is why I think Dennis Howle, who is a really decent guy, left them in jail--the protection of the public.

The arrest of the sheriff and those who are involved with the current gambling investigation are only the tip of the iceberg. A little over a year ago Hickory had a large gambling group that they busted and some of the case involved Buncombe County people who put machinges in business here. Some of Medford supporters say that he was only gambling and the state has gambling with the lotto. True but what Medford was doing was illegal and the state lotto is approved by the legislators. The Indian gambeling is legal by Federal and State approval.
Max Wilson in a man who has been know to help a lot of people. He has a good heart. His willingness to help Medford is an example. However, we have a system in this country that is the best, and for Wilson to say the charges are a bunch of crap shows that he doesn't believe in our system. What a shame for a former lawman. On the other hand Wilson never went to Basic Law Enforcement training for North Carolina. His appointment to the U.S. Marshall position was a political appointment. I wonder if Wilson would really put up a million dollars. Sounds like a real gamble.

I agree, I don't think our justice system should be used as payback. If we are obligated to allow bonding out for criminals in our community then the ex Sheriff should certainly qualify for some bond. This is a disgusting display of power tripping if you ask me.

Not a publicity stunt. The mexicans (and others) you read aboout that are let out on bond are arrested by APD or BCSD. Medford was arrested and is in Federal custody. Difference in traffic violations and extortion, money laundering, intimidation.

Well Free, nobody asked you! You have no clue what you are even talking about. Our justice system was used as a payback by Medford and his coons for citizens who did not agree with their way! How would you like it if you spent two years in jail and YOU were innocent! Seems that in only one example of using the justice system for you own advantage. Grow up and take your blinders off and face the truth about this coon.

The HONEST Officers who did know about this but FEARED him allowed it to go on. We need people with a backbone to protect us. Also letting the petty drug dealers out on bond is no small deed. They to should be in jail. I have to say the Judges hands may have been tied to keep Bobby there. News would problem say wonder why the judge let him go hummmmmmmm and start looking into his background as well. So he may have been skeerrttt as well..Geeze get some people in there to stand for what is right. I understand scared but the officers signed on to serve and protect us not the criminals. Those who knew about it and took the dont ask dont tell plan. As soon as Bobby is in trouble they all post yes I knew he was like this I just feared him....Give us a break do you toot your horn after the wreck. Well dont toot it after for some lime light.(shaking head)

Those who are arguing for Medford and his goons to be released pre-trial have not been on the recieving end of their animosity. Communicating threats are the very least they would do. You'd have every witness fleeing in terror. He's slick and plays the "hurt guy" for all he's worth. Hiding behind a woman when he's been beating them all his life. Not even thinking what could happen to Bell if she stands up for him. He's a bleedin crawl on the belly lying snake. Manipulative as Macheavelli and as power hungry as Napoloen with some of the blindness and mean spirit of NIxon.
No, Medford free would put too many lives in jeopardy. Just because the press has ignored most of his crimes for years, doesn't mean that those of us on the recieving end didn't experience them. Pity lies between pathological and putrid in the dictionary . It is exactly what Medford wants others to feel for him. For all of us to feel sorry for the hurt old man. BSBSBSBSBSBSBSBS
H*** NO. Anyone who falls for that act needs to have an IQ check.
That man wouldn't recognize the word truth or empathy if it bit him.

They difference is the drug dealers are killing kids with there dope so let them make bond...I think not but they do it anyway over and over again. Everyone seems mad that Bobby spent tax dollars on gambling. I am too. I am just as upset my tax dollars go for thugs to get out and keep our streets dirty. Mexicans, whites, blacks, they all are cheating us if they do crime and get a small bond and out beating people, breaking into homes and once they are tired they go home and beat the family. Get 1000 bond on domestic charge and sleep there and start a day new.

I don't think he'd ever go to trial if he were released. Don't know he'd live that long.
