So?
The assumption, if you want this offtopic area to go on, is that the private sector would be better at aerial firefighting, if the feds would allow the sale of more surplus C-130 planes, or allow new ones to be bought, rather than gifting them to Third World dictatorships. They don't want private competitors funded by insurance industry who have a real financial incentive to prevent damage. What you are trying to do is lay a trap to say that if Texas had been like Kalifornia and unionized with high taxes, that this would not have happened, rejecting the evidence that Kalifornia has this problem every year, and they still can't stop it. Rejecting as well the evidence that wildfires in Texas are rare of this size.

Norm, go back to France with your socialism.

Just watched the school board meeting. I wish Ron Ross would be more public in his run for the board. I was hoping to see him asking some questions about the recent salaries that were posted on the ohiotreasurer.gov website.
What questions would you want asked and if you want the, asked don't attend the meeting and ask them yourself.

It's on topic because the chaos in Texas is a direct result of the anti-government hysteria you promote.

What do you think about your boy Rick Perry's plea for FEMA money?

I assume you have contributed?

It's enlightening that you equate an adequately funded fire department with socialism.

Socialism is government ownership of the means of production, in this case, the means include aerial firefighting. Only when the Feds gave a near monopoly to the National Guard did this become a problem

Kalifornia is socialist, and still regularly has these problems.

I am no fan of Perry.

I suppose we should get rid of police departments too?

To your last statement:

That was you explaining your selection of Rick Perry as your candidate for 2012.

I explained that I thought Perry was already selected, I think the elites have already decided on him. It was my guess who will win the election, not who I want to win.

My apologies. The title of the thread "If the election were held tomorrow, who would get your vote?" must have confused me.

Out of the four listed, he would. But those four sucked.

"Submerged" government is a perversion of the free market, and the sole reason for the high taxation you see today. People like to think the rich were heavily taxed back in the 50s, but they forget that there were a lot more deductions, and the tax system was far easier to cheat.

You either did not read the article or did not understand it as your reply is nonsensical in regard to the reading.

The superintendent is nothing but the mouthpiece of the board. While Stepp should be fired by a fiscally responsible board that believes in open government, because of his dishonesty, he is only doing what the board lets and tells him to do.
You are correct about the high taxes, as a trip to www.buckeyeinstitute.org will show you that Medina spends 11K per student. In comparison at Highland, only 8K is spent per student, though that will increase to around 9K because the board got a tax increase passed, it was around 6.5K not long ago.
The weight room might have been funded by outside donated money. I would check to see if tax dollars were used. What needs to be done is stopping the school from building an ice arena.
"The superintendent is nothing but the mouthpiece of the board."???? What planet are you on?? What do you think happens in those closed-door "executive meetings"??? The Board doesn't know squat about what's really going on in the school district: they only know what Randy Stepp wants them to know--and they rely TOTALLY on his recommendations for personnel and actions. Afterall, "they're only there to set policy....."
Every single one of those board members---and Randy Stepp--should be fired!!! Should've been gone a long time ago. They are so far out in their own little worlds that they have no concept of what the people of Medina want for their kids. There's only one way you people of Medina are going to get your point across: flock to those board meetings and make them face you!
BTW: Teachers are to vote on their contract Thursday, 3/7: don't be surprised when more ---- hits the fan!

Weight rooms, ice cream shops, nice tip for Randy Steep and yet people still want to defend this spend happy school board that cares more about the kids then their taxpaying and taxed to death parents.

Still voting NO!
