Well isn't that special. They have ruined Chippewa Lake, that Lake cannot support what they are planning for it, so please by all means, start cementing and ruining the place with your stimulus.

No. Please do not vomit on this hard working Chippewa Lake community by stealing stimulus dollars to build a generic, architecturally irrelevant monstrosity. I would rather see entropy than so called progress based on ignorance. CLP R.I.P. Think about the community before you instill generic design upon a site that is rich with historical and cultural history. For shame....

who ever came up with this idea is an idiot! chippewa is a community with hard working family folks who are focused on their families not a resort some said CLP was an eye sore, at least it has history and was protected and cherished by are neighbors, i cant wait to see what an eye sore this place will be with no regard to the past and what chippewa started as! thanks for nothing!

Sorry, Chippewa Lake Resident, looks like you and your hard working family folk are left out of the equation. Medina is working for the upper classes now and the lake goes to them. Or rather, not the lake per se, but the resort and spa blocking it, because who needs a lake when you can be pampered like royalty!

Can someone say corporate welfare. Bet the developer is politically connected to county government somehow, why would we mess up the lake even more.

there goes the great outdoors and all the wildlife that has been returning to the area . more people means more traffic and garbage in the ditches the roads are not made for the volume of cars so were is that money going to come from when time to expand the bridges and roads? the outside money won't stay in chipp but other pockets and i'm sure some will go to pad other pockets tp let it go thru.

It doesn't look like this project is happening anytime soon.

".....last year the original plans for Chippewa Landing called for a Hilton hotel and 16,000 square foot health center designed, staffed and operated by Akron General Partners. A dinner theater and conference center were added to the plans....;"

Oh, yeah, that sounds like a realistic asset to the Medina county community. So family oriented and cost friendly. What a great use of the lake!

Seriously, that sounds like a placed that could be built ANYWHERE and has nothing to do with its surroundings. Why eat up that lovely space with this?

It's too bad that the Park District couldn't buy it and turn it into a great park and beach for the community if anything. I think they're working on the other side where that farm is, though.

What about a boardwalk type area with shops and restaurants and things that appeal to both families and singles?

Honestly, if there were still an amusement park there like the one it was and it was a fair price, we would be going.

I find myself really regretting not going to see the old park before they demolished it. Personally, I think they should have and should still rebuild Chippewa Lake park! I am from Tuscarawas county and we have a nice little park down here named Tuscora Park. I've heard great things about the old Chippewa Lake park over the years and I would definitely check out a rebuilt park. As far as a resort? Count me out! I think the developers missed a prime opportunity to resurrect a park that had become an icon both in life and in death.

Looks like the bonds can't sell, we may just escape from this socialist project after all.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything left to see at Chippewa? My nephews and I will be in the area and would love to stop and pay tribute to what once was.

Resort? Are you kidding me? I cannot believe how they have tore up a once beautiful area, one the was accessible to local and county residents and again, lets cement and build and make this ole fancy place on top of a what is actually a small body of water for something like that. They should have left it alone and used the money for more important things.

How many of you whiners attended planning meetings or contacted the commissioners to seek help? Of course it is just easier to sit your ass behind and screen a bitch. It really us funny that the same people are on here whining, but more than likely never do anything. If you want to change something you need to act, not type your complaints on a computer.
Another question, why didn't the residents of Chippewa Lake unit and form an association, hire a lawyer, pool their resources and buy the land? Just curious.

As far as I heard, the county owns the lake, and part of the shore on one side.

There is no way anyone in Chippewa Lake had the millions pooled to buy that side of the lake. The county park district only got enough federal cash to buy the lakebed and half of the shoreline.

The resort was never viable in the first place, because its bonds did not sell. I thought the demolition was ongoing on the park side.

I heard that everything was on hold after an Eagles nest was in the area, which means the Eagle has blocked commercialism and politicalism,if that is true I hope more Eagles come to the area, that might mean it would become a nature preserve. That would be perfect.

I remember performing at Chippewa back in the summer of 1977 with the group the Tiny Rascals. Loved performing in the ballroom. Memories of Chippewa Lake Park I'll never forget. Also loved the rides.:) Wish I was a kid again!
