Guess the powers that be in Akron were too worried about Bass Pro Shops to even think about Cabela's!!

Jes' think. Iff'n Cabela's had cozied up with with the Akron deal, they could have gotten some the state monies as well as the community to help fund their business.

What makes you think that isn't going to be the case in Brunswick?

This is ridiculous. Just another example of how there is NO common sense in our leadership in Ohio. WHERE do the majority of Ohio hunters hunt????EXACTLY, south of interstate 70!!! Then explain to me WHY in the world you would put a Cabelas that far North in the State??? I could see a Bass Pro Shops with our wonderful Lake Erie fishery, but a Cabelas that far north makes no sense at all!!!! I drive to the south from up north on 77 and I would much rather stop and get my supplies on the way to hunt vs. having to make a special trip north then going back south! There is an abundance of land off of 77 just south of Canton where I believe there used to be a driving range. Plenty of land for a Cabela's!! Better than Brunswick that's for sure!!!

And I suppose we'll see you out there in your berkenstocks protesting w/PETA on how terrible hunting is. Just do me a favor and when the store opens, GET A JOB!

Have you ever been to a Cabela's? They don't just sell hunting gear, but plenty of fishing gear as well. They also have a store in Wheeling, so that pretty much takes care of the southern Ohio crowd.

Mayor Don said he can't wait to shop there and tell his "fishing tales" of how he is single handedly saving Akron. And kids, they will have a big, life-like bear statue out front. Maybe Don can feed it a "bass" for his own pro shop.

I agree. Though I've got no reason to go there, I know that they are a huge destination for hunters, fisherman, and others. I have relatives who have made day trips out of visiting Cabela's stores in Detroit and Wheeling. I don't get it, but that doesn't mean it's not going to do very well.

I believe they were aiming towards the Lake Erie fishing crowd. On the news last night they said recreational fishing brings millions (or was it billions?) of dollars to Ohio every year.

Either way, this is a great boost for Brunswick, congratulations to them.

I grew up in Medina County and I can assure you there are plenty of hunters, fishers and campers in the area. Just because it may not be convenient for you doesn't mean there aren't thousands of other people who would gladly go there. And isn't having one in Brunswick closer to you than W. Virginia or Michigan? Ok, so remind me again why you're complaining?

Also, since when does "Ohio leadership" make decisions for major corporations? Last time I checked, companies had strategic/marketing departments that made those decisions. wow.

No tax abatements, no Cabela's!Strategic/marketing nothing. I have been to the Wheeling store and also the Dundee, MI store. I hunt in Medina as well! There aren't NEARLY the hunters up there than down south. Read the harvest report monkey! Convenience isn't an issue as Brunswick WILL be closer than Wv or MI. Even though they have camping gear, YOU are the dumba$$ if you spend money paying Cabela's prices on camping gear! They are a hunting/fishing store. I agree it is smart for the Lake Erie purpose but isn't that why Bass Pro Shops is there? Cabela's DOES NOT like competing with BPS in the fishing arena. They like selling guns. And if I had my way, I would shove my size 15 hunting boot up every single PETA members arss!!

((chucklin')) Now now bowskiboy, let's not forget y'all admitted y'all wore one. Iff'n it embarrasses y'all, y'all shouldn't have boasted about it.

So, y'all say that y'all didn't have anythin' to back up y'alls comment as usual eh??

Why, I believe that qualifies y'all to fall into that typical category, y'all are so fond of.

You are dummer than a wagon-load of hammers. Brunswick, Medina County and the State of Ohio are all making concessions in the form of tax incentives to lure Cabela's. Additionally, they will be making improvements to the I-71/Route 303 interchange to accomodate all the additional traffic.
