I am J.R.'s Aunt. Since I have known him from birth, I feel confident stating I believe with all my heart that he in no way intentionally harmed little AJ with whom he's accused of murdering. Just remember people, the measure with which you use on others will also be used on you...in the end, we all recieve judgement. The Georgia "judicial" system is incredibley skewed, when it can isolate and keep in suspense for over a year, a person before even charging and sentencing them. Who wouldn't come unglued after all that time especially knowing you're innocent. TO JAYNE in Ponte Vedra-do you even know JR? Do you know anyone that's ever been wrongly accused? Of anything?? It's tragic enough that a baby had a fatal accident. But to denegrade and take away the life of another will never make it better.

jr was a family friend of ours, and i could never imagine him hurting a child, i never even saw him lay a finger on his own children. only one person actually knows what happened that day, and i hope justice prevails and the truth comes out.

Glynn man gets 10-year prison term for toddler's death
He pleaded guilty to causing the death of 2-year-old boy.

By Teresa Stepzinski
BRUNSWICK -- A judge sentenced a Glynn County man to 10 years in prison Friday after he pleaded guilty to causing the death of his girlfriendÂ’s 2-year-old son while baby-sitting the toddler 2 years ago.
Byron Patrick Nail Jr., 30, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the beating death of Adam McDowell, who died Jan. 25, 2009, of severe head injuries two days after he was hospitalized in Savannah.
At that time, the boy lived with his 6-year-old sister and their mother, Jan Paquin, at NailÂ’s home on Georgia 32 in Thalmann, a small community east of the Glynn-Brantley County line.
Nail was home alone with Adam on Jan. 23, 2009, when he suffered the injuries that caused his death.
Nail was charged with murder, and Paquin was charged with second-degree cruelty to children for allowing her son to be injured.

You guys yap your heads off, rendering opinions, but thats all they are. You have no right nor any business making such slanderous statements. JR not only took a plea deal to keep his girlfriend out of jail, he would have taken a needle for her - has still has no clue what kind of "person" she is.

Cindy you're his Aunt, then you should fill us in on what kind of "person" she is, please elaborate! Why did he plea guilty to such a crime if he did not intentionally harm this child? And the girlfriend's charges being dropped is no excuse to plea guilty to this if he is innocent, which if you can see what kind of "person" she is then how does your family feel about him taking this slap on the wrist to keep her out of jail? She wouldn't have got any time to amount to anything with her charges, if she knew nothing about the abuse from the beginning. Anyway I just want to see what kind of an excuse you could or would come up with to defend him once again.

I feel sorry for the CONVICTED KILLER'S family. Of course they do not want to think their family member killed a child but do not put the blame on someone who was not in the house when it happened. HE CONFESSED! HE ADMITTED HE WAS HOME ALONE WITH THIS CHILD! Do not let love blind you to the facts.

Much love and hope for a good life for all of you who think you know everything. In the end of days, all will be known. And when you get down to it, thats all that matters. My arguments for, your argsuments against... none of it matters really. So proceeed in life as if you can judge the absolute truth of any situation you weren't involved with.

It is truly an insult to say that you will defend your nephew long after we've forgotten his name, I will never forget that JR aka Byron Patrick Nail Jr. is responsible for My nephew, Adam AJ McDowell's death!! Our family will never forget his name or what he has done!! Our 2yr old nephew died from BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA..equal to falling from a 2 story building onto concrete!! And your nephew said he slipped and fell in the bathtub?? 10yrs is Not Justice, it is a joke. Yes God will judge him for what he has done and that does give us a little peace because clearly the life of our precious child meant so little to the judicial system of Georgia. But my Bible says, Let the little children come to me because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these!! I know JR will receive the judgment he deserves!! And Our Little Baby..AJ is safe now, he will no longer be in harms way and is waiting in Heaven on us, in the arms of Jesus!! And I was sitting in the court room when the judge sentenced him!! Where were you??

This Monster admitted that he killed this little baby. How can any person try to justify or reason with themselves any other reason than he Murdered this little baby. I would be ashamed to even say that this Monster is related to me. I feel so sorry for this little baby and the family that is left behind. The mother is to blame to if you ask me. She had to be involved some way if she was charged with some crime involving this little baby. Bless all the family this baby has left behind.
