Job Corps info.

Does anyone know anything about the job corp in Brunswick?
Thinking of sending my kid but need some real input & not the fluff they post on the website.

I don't know how the one in Brunswick is, but I can tell you that Job Corps is a wonderful program for young adults who can't afford a trade school or college. I know once your child gets his/her foot in the door they can transfer to any Job Corps site they choose. I was in Job Corps for 2 years. Then went to advanced training in St. Louis, Mo. called TCU. A union ran trade school that teaches and encourages training in transportation, i.e. railroad, air lines ect. I got a job with CSX Transportation via Job Corps and have been working as a clerk with the railroad now for 12 years. I currently earn about 56 grand a year. I have great benefits and a nice retirment plan. I highly recommend Job Corps to any young adult looking for a quick fix.

Learning to live in diversity is another plus to going thru the program. There are a lot of young people from different walks of life, different cultures, I found that in itself to be a great learning experience.

My son is there now and I would say keep your child at home. Violence is rampant and goes un reported and un disciplined. Theft of personal property is extremely high and even communicated to new students. The security they claim to have is non existant. My son's roommate was beaten in the middle of the night and cannot go to the staff for fear of further beatings. I can't find out how to get my son home because I get stonewalled when I call. Stay away!!!!!

Thanks for your help....is your son here in Brunswick? Don't wait on them to give you answers....show up on the door steps take your child home asap.
