Before we start dinging the bureaucrats, I think that the adoptive parents should be arrested for fraud and endangerment charges for stealing the money from the state and for failing to report Adam missing.

Then separate the husband and wife and try to coerce a confession from one of them as to what happened to that kid.

I believe they kiled him. Why would you not report him missing? Especially when he did not return after a few days.
Please tell me you wouldn't seriously wait DAYS if your ELEVEN year old child (adopted or not) was missing??? Children absolutely cannot take care of themselves at that age...

I am so surprised that any state would offer a family the fostering responsibility and not do some serious background checks on them before doing so - With all of the crap that kids go through, and being put into a "substitute" environment as it is, they would surely want these kids to be safe -

The foster family program (throughout America) needs to be overhauled AGAIN, because this is just rediculous. How many kids have to disappear, get killed, raped, beaten up, starved, go missing, etc. before the government fixes their problems?

Doesn't this story sound familiar? Remember Rilya Wilson who disappeared but wasn't reported until nearly 2 years later?? The same thing happened in that case, the caregivers were NOT charged until later on when additional information was revealed. It should be a crime to not report your child missing, shouldn't it??
Yes, it is a crime not to report YOUR child missing... Guess the foster parents didn't consider Adam to be THEIR child... Don't you worry, though... These people will get what they deserve in the end of this thing - One way or another, they will have to answer for this horrible mess!

They weren't the foster parents, they had already adopted Adam when they say he ran away.

Infuriated about this case, cant believe the adoptive mom has NOT been arrested for fraudulantly cashing the checks the government was giving her for caring for the boy when he was NOT even there, we all know she did him in , my oppinion only , if he had really ran off they could have hunted him down not just let him get away...I hope she gets tossed in jail and left to rot and die...just my oppinion!

Any information is greatly appreciated. This little boy is assumed to be missing for 10 years. If he is alive, he would be 21 years old now. His adoptive parents never reported him missing, but say he ran away when he was 11 and never came back.
It is extremely suspicious.
What value do we place on the life of a child?
What kind of society cares so little that an 11 year old can just vanish into thin air, and it go unreported for a decade? Teachers, relatives, neighbours......who missed this little person? Who stamped him "worthless"? Why did no one care enough to call the authorities, police, Childrens Aid.....someone.....?
Dear Lord, we have sunk to some of the lowest levels of thoughtlessness, carelessness, and absolute disregard for the lives of so many children.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Britain, RSPCA, was originally
THE SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO CHILDREN AND ANIMALS, The RSPCCA.... have we gone so far back in our value of children that we may need to reinstitue the RSPCCA...at least there was some form of organization that looked after children, just one above the animals.

Adoptive parents have been officially labeled as suspects, as opposed to "persons of interest".

Hopefully we'll see some arrests soon.

Decision On Charges In Herrman Case Likely Months Away

http://www.kake.com/home/headlines/43982252.h...

"The Butler County prosecutor expects she'll need several months to decide whether to bring charges in the decade-old disappearance of Adam Herrman.

County Attorney Jan Satterfield said Tuesday that while the investigation is "solid," the Herrman case is complex. Investigators turned their findings over to Satterfield a month ago.

Then 11 years old, the Herrman boy disappeared in 1999 from a mobile home park in Towanda, 25 miles northeast of Wichita. His disappearance became known late last year after his older, adoptive sister voiced concerns about him to authorities.

Investigators said they could find no records or indication that Adam was still alive.

Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy said he believes his office has found enough evidence to charge the boy's adoptive parents, Valerie and Doug Herrman."

Too much bureaucracy in this case. I can't believe that they haven't already charged them for fraud and child endangerment while they continue to investigate the murder.

not really... but does it bother you that we are advocates for abused, rapled murdered children? Those words should not even be associated with children in my opinion. Brunswick folks don't seem to talk much about anything. Little Caleeb was the hot topic at one time. I wonder how he is doing and if he still lives with the parents, anyone know?
