General Lee has not answered my question. I guess he is busy taking care of Traveler.
Horses are like that. 20 hours maintenance - 1 hour riding.

General, sir. Would you mind telling me why, at Gettysburg, did you order General Longstreet to attack Mead's forces at the center of the line rather than perform a flanking maneuver from the right?
Thanks. I hope you are feeling well sir.
There is more to the history of this battle, so much so, your question cannot be properly answered.

Great question Zoltar.
Maybe you can use your influence to also obtain an explanation for the rest of us as to the events at Little Round Top, especially the success of Chamberlain's bayonet charge. How the knives beat the rifles is always been a quandary to me.
Anyway, carry on.
don't mean to butt in on this, but it is much more intresting than the political stuff.about the "bayonet charge",Longstreet said after the war, that they(Chamberlins men)did not even need weapons-they could have just rolled boulders down on them, speaking of how formidable the union position was.

Great post.

Chamberlain's story and his performance at Little Round Top is truly inspiring. I think before the War he was a professor.

thanks for the correction on the spelling of college.as a matter of fact, jeb was there.unfortunatly,he arrived about a day or two late.he,along with Gen. Ewell probably deserve more credit for confederate defeat than Gen.Lee.Or at least, that is my opinion.

Well I had to look it up!:) How could anyone from down here remember that one?
read book on J.E.B. which was good but can't remember the name now. Also a book on Gettysburg was "Killer Angels" was excellent blend fact and the authors interpretation of the thoughts of his characters, I think author was Michael Shaara whose Dad Jeff wrote in the same style. If anyone has never read these books by these two I highly recommend them. they look at both sides of the war. there's also one on the Revolutionary War just as good.

Daily Horoscope for May 24

Aquarius

In complete contrast to yesterday, you have your head screwed on firmly today. Yet you won't be boringly sensible or drearily practical, so there's no danger of you having turned into a dry old stick overnight. It's a good day for keeping track of important details and processes, such as confirming a forthcoming appointment or filling in a form and then making a copy of it before sending it off.
