Let's see what happens.
It ought to be interesting.
WASHINGTON -- When $50 billion in disaster aid for victims of Superstorm Sandy came before Congress this year, three of Oklahoma’s five representatives and both of its senators were among the "no" votes.
At the time, some of the Oklahoma lawmakers demanded spending cuts as a condition of aid to the hurricane-ravaged Northeast.
Now that a devastating tornado has hit their state, it's not clear whether Oklahoma lawmakers who demanded budget cuts will continue to hold that line when it comes to their state's recovery efforts.
"When we increase spending in one area, we must cut spending in another area," Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.) said in January. "I hope my colleagues will consider this principle in future relief packages."
Oklahoma Reps. Markwayne Mullin and James Lankford, both Republicans, also voted against the $50-billion aid package.
Oklahoma’s Republican Sens. Tom Coburn, who is a physician, and James Inhofe also opposed the measure when it passed the Senate, 62 to 36.
"If an additional emergency aid package is necessary, Dr. Coburn will not change his long-standing position on offsets," said spokesman John Hart, whose boss was headed to Oklahoma to assess the damage.
"We don’t know if an emergency aid package will even be necessary," Hart said, noting that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has $11 billion in its disaster relief fund..
During the debate on Sandy aid, a number of Republican lawmakers challenged whether spending for such things as shoring up defenses against future storms was an emergency, saying that should be considered during the normal budget process.
Great Post! These republicans need to learn a lesson from the Bible " To he who shows no mercy, No mercy will be shown".Now Obama will not be a cold blooded snake like bush was or romney would be. He has already pledged millions to a state that really has been a under a tremendous curse over the past 25 years. Those congressional men you talked about could care less about New Jersey or New Orleans but any republican place in America they are ready and willing. I do believe these republicans are under a special curse from above! They can't wait to TRY and slither back into the White House but Americans have learned a hard lesson under bush.Unfortunely it rains on the JUST( non-Republicans) and the unjust(republicans). So 30% of those in this state could use your prayers and "Government Assistance". Thank our president for not being an arrogant, vindictive scumbag like bush romney and all their supportors. bottom line, keep them far away from our government.

Not reading this left wing trash that, I'm sure, has no basis. You must be sore the way your life turned out or something. You filibuster so that you don't have to answer anything. You could have answered the question I asked of you (TWICE, I think) very succinctly. I don't read your boring sputum, so I'm guessing you never answered. I just glanced up and saw that the rich make you relatively well of. You are such a HYPOCRITE. What a disgrace you are to those you SUPPOSEDLY defend.
How out of touch you republicans have become! For the rest of us your posts along with the other weird comments from the minority of voters just reminds all of us how important it is to keep you and your King and Queens out of our great and still powerful government. Never again will America allow you insane hypocrites to rule our GREAT country, NEVER! Moore Oklahoma is a town of 40000 and known to be 90% republican. Now they will learn what those in Hurricane Sandy and New Orleans went thru, but this time with a President that will show compassion and not try to seek revenge.

Wouldn't it be instructive to let those Right Wing Wackos in Oklahoma who voted for Willard and Pauly to defund all government programs that helped the average person; and their Right Wing Wacko senators and representatives who voted to defund FEMA, to have the chance to enjoy the true lunacy of Right Wing Wacko policies ?

But no, grown ups are in charge and once again the Right Wing Wackos will benefit from the very policies they try so hard to destroy.

Nothing new there.

Only thing is... in a couple years Oklahomans will forget the dozens of times the federal government came in and bailed them out after a disaster, and they'll get all oatsey and tell us all again how the rest of us are socialists.

And they still won't demand building codes that require basements or storm shelters because they don't want those damn Gov'ment regulations interfering with higher profits.

Them we'll do this all over again.

A good website to find out about charities, their main charity focus, a break down of how the money is spent and whether or not you can direct where your money goes.

The Obama Administration has:

- prosecuted more Whistleblowers than all other administrations combined in the last 30 years;

- It's targeted and assassinated American citizens against all rules of law;

- It's refused to close Gitmo - an ongoing War Crime;

- It's targeted and subpoenaed phone records for reporters;

If Right Wingers want to condemn, investigate and/or prosecute people in the Administration for these things - most liberals, moderates, and progressives will join them.

I will.

"By providing a naturalistic explanation of biological origins, evolution promotes atheism.
Although atheism might have been logically tenable before Charles Darwin, Darwin made it possible to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist. Richard Dawkins, 1986 - in response to your prior comment about what difference did it make what people 150 years ago thought about Darwin's theories

I do not see the relevance in your taking up so much space merely defining what the Cambrian explosion was, but to each their own.

What some have termed "transitional species" others have termed merely variants against a central type, seemingly more like analogous structures rather than those purportedly lining up in an evolutionary line.

While 5-10 million years is a virtually inconceivable amount of time for us, geologically it is not and when you recognize that mutation is virtually the result of the roll of genetic dice, most of which will not be successful, the amount of time reasonably required to result in the diversity found is staggering.

But forget all about the above and we are still left with the fact that we still have no explanation for how complex biochemical systems came to be in the first place. Molecular biologists still have NO explanation for that most basic question. Francis Crick -, codiscoverer of the structure of DNA, had this brilliant response - that life on earth was seeded by aliens on another world - seriously - that was his answer. Interesting, he is willing to posit that spacemen exist, but not God - the only problem is that that begs the question - okay, who made the little green men. Infinite regress, anyone?

But we have had this discussion before, and I repeat, let's not hijack this political thread - I was merely responding to someone else's disparaging post and you joined in - My basic premise is the same, teach the theory of evolution and the theory of Intelligent Design - with their accompanying criticisms.
I contend that would be intellectually honest. I do not expect you to agree.
