Thank you Lord for unions.
Thanks to a strong union, I'm enjoying my lifetime pension, my lifetime medical insurance, my lifetime cost of living increases, and according to statistics, I have another 27 years to go.
In a few years, on addition to my pension, I'll also be enjoying Socialist Security and Medicare.
Thanks to the VA government funds, I have a college and postgraduate education.
Thanks to federal student loans and grants my older kids have college and postgraduate educations too.
Thanks America.
Yep, America works for the working man or woman when Unions are strong - when they aren't- the working man is screwed.
If the Right Wing Wackos take away the opportunities from America now, so the rich and the corporations can get richer- my family will be fine.
Thank you Fraternal Order of Police and Police Benevolent Association - you did my friends and me right.
What, you don't have a pension, medical benefits, COLA increases - Well maybe you should have supported unions - then you would.
Like Mom always said: stupid people pray for stupid things - and sometimes God gives it to them.
Yeah? How's that working for your fellow union workers? lol I can give you this. You won't be accused of looking out for your fellow union brothers. You are enjoying yours while they are sitting on the sidelines because of YOUR ridiculous demands. Gotta love it.
Have you looked into how Obamacare is going to affect your "lifetime" medical insurance? Should be interesting. You won't admit it, but I'll bet it's going to be affected in a horrendous way. Wait and see. I am confident in that.
The past union members are the ones taking all of those things you are enjoying away from the younger members. I wonder if they are intelligent enough to figure that out? Bet not.*shaking head*
BTW, I am thinking my future is at least as secure if not more so than yours AND I didn't belong to nor need a union.
So, bask in your luxuries while your fellow union members can't even get a job in the U.S. Why don't you send them your best? I'm sure they'll be most appreciative. rotfl

Never could get close to the Iraq fiasco but then turn your heads you don't want to hear anymore about that. Not that I expect the good white folks of the Confederacy to come around ta' sittin' down to the dinner table with em' don'tcha see, that may take a bit more than a centruy. And maybe we could see fit to let the lady folk try their hand in the votin' booth. Yes sir that would be a mighty fine day. Just curious....in YOUR alternate universe, do the wealthy not pay federal, cigarette, gas and alcohol taxes? Um....oookay.

Let me get this right. You are saying that if a wealthy person smokes, drives a car and/or drinks alcohol, they don't pay taxes on those items when they buy them? Also, are you saying that wealthy people don't pay federal income tax?

Obama has been in office almost five years. Exactly WHEN are the wealthy going to pay up? So far, it hasn't happened. I guess that is the HOPE Obama was talking about. His minions are HOPING the wealthy will pay, but so far, nope.

<quoted text>Yes, it's part of the problem, but do you know why it's done? Are you familiar with how business really works? Do YOU think unions may have an impact on things?

As I've posted MANY times before, a public corporation is responsible to it's shareholders, NOT it's employees, the country, or government. It's the real world.

Do some research on the fiduciary responsibility of public company officers and the Board of Directors, perhaps you'll understand better what I'm saying.

Short story as an example: If I'm CFO of a public company (which I was and had a situation quite similar to this example) and my company (a union shop) can make a widget for $10 a unit in my shop (the same cost as my competitor across town), or have it made for $7 per unit in another country (including shipping, etc. to get the product here), which am I going to choose? If I choose the $7 per unit cost, I can have a lower price (improving my market share) compared to my competitor, or if I have the same selling price (obviously) I can have a higher profit per unit than my competitor. If I choose the $10 per unit cost, my profits won't be as high, etc. Follow?

If I don't do what's best for the Company (the $7 cost), very likely I will be sued by shareholders and, oh yeah, they'll fire me and find someone else that will do it.

Do you own any stocks? Do you want the companies you (may) own to do as well as possible? Or do you want them to be beholden to their employees (which might also be stockholders)?

You're getting at the tip of the iceberg, but you have a bit to learn and/or understand...
Please, stop embarrassing yourself.

I hope to God, you don't manage other people's money, but based on Right Wing Wackos' performance whenever allowed access to others' money, you'd be perfect. You could blow it faster than Ronnie Ray-Gun or Bush did.

Every time you agree with me you pretend you don't.

Having served on the investment oversight boards overseeing over $300 million funding three city pension plans, managing a self-directed IRA, and now overseeing my companies 401K investments - I have a reasonable amount of knowledge and experience, thanks.

Now it's time to school you.

Every corporation's job is to maximize profits at the expense of anyone and everyone else.

See we agree.

Every corporation's job is to maximize profits at the expense of anyone and everyone else.

See we agree again.

That means if corporations can use child labor, pay 30 cents an hour, work their employees in toxic environments, provide no benefits, and throw the dead bodies of their employees in the dumpster, which is provided free of charge by the local taxing, or non-taxing authority -

that's what they'll do.

See we agree again.

Now here is where you lose all credibility,
after having acknowledged all corporations by definition are amoral,
by pretending that unions aren't necessary to level the playing field,
so that labor has the ability to negotiate on behalf of employees to improve the employees pay and benefits.

Yep, that guy named Bob will bring Walmart to its knees by refusing to stock the shelves in the Sheboygan, Wi. store.

This is where you lose all credibility and your posts become nonsensical jokes

It's ok to admit you think American employees exist to be used and discarded like trash to maximize profits.

That's an honest , although morally bankrupt position - but at least it's not laughable.
