Maybe if you read a few of the following books you could stay up late with the adults after supper:

- American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America - Chris Hedges

Or, you can just insult folks who actually have some background and knowledge of the topics on which they opine.

Why are Right Wingers so anxious to display their complete ignorance on any topic that requires some degree of study and research.

Are intellectual pursuits so foreign they cannot accept many people enjoy reading and researching such things for the simple joy of learning.

It's like they actually believe the rest of us have to be making this stuff up, because there's just no way average people could be educated on anything not directly related to American Idle, The Bachelor, or Swamp Men ?

"Sinclair Lewis seems to have dropped out of what remains of world literature. The books are little read today, and hes seldom discussed in his native land outside his home town, Sauk Centre, Minnesota. Although Sauk Centre holds an annual Sinclair Lewis Day, the guide to his home recently admitted,Ive never read Main Street. Ive been reading the biographies. Elsewhere, the Associated Press (July 18) tells us,About forty copies of Lewiss books are on the shelves of the town library. For the most part, thats where they stay.

I expect to be the most talked-of writer, Lewis boasted before he was. But the great ironist in the sky had other plans for him. In the end, Lewis was not to be talked of at all."

Easy to understand why you identify with him...

"He was a queer boy, always an outsider, lonely.
"He had a wide repertory of characterstypesand he was constantly shifting in and out of characters. But where Flaubert had only one act, The Idiot, Lewis had an army of idiots, and once started, he could not shut up."

As the right becomes increasingly desperate in the face of losses and failures, it is reasonable to expect they will continue to double down on the same causes of that failure, or retreat into greater extremism.
The lack the capacity to adapt, modernize, or change. Change terrifies them, and they seek consolation and comfort in ideology no matter how badly failed, like their economic policies, by ignoring the reality of that failure.
Signs of Right Wing Fascism;
1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism – Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
(Ever seen a Tea Party Rally" ?)
2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights – Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of “need.”
The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
(Can you say "Anti-Patriot" Act- Waterboarding, "Rendition", and ""Targeted Drone Strikes" ?
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause – The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
(Leeeeeeeeeeeberrrrrraaaaaalll lllls !)
4. Supremacy of the Military – Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
(Trillions and Trillions in debt and building even more $3 Billion Dollar "Nu-Clar" Submarines)

You are incorrectly quoting a socialists and communist. Lewis never made that quote.
All you socialists/communists cant even get a quote correct.
Apparently you are correct, but I wouldn't gloat over it...

http://english.illinoisstate.edu/sinclairlewi...
Q: Did Sinclair Lewis say, "When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross"?

A: This quote sounds like something Sinclair Lewis might have said or written, but we've never been able to find this exact quote. Here are passages from two novels Lewis wrote that are similar to the quote attributed to him.

From It Can't Happen Here:
"But he saw too that in America the struggle was befogged by the fact that the worst Fascists were they who disowned the word 'Fascism' and preached enslavement to Capitalism under the style of Constitutional and Traditional Native American Liberty."

From Gideon Planish:
"I just wish people wouldn't quote Lincoln or the Bible, or hang out the flag or the cross, to cover up something that belongs more to the bank-book and the three golden balls."

There was also a play called Strangers in the late 1970s which had a similar quote, but no one, including one of Lewiss biographers, Richard Lingeman, has ever been able to locate the quote.
