A story that pretty much highlights the effect the Tea Party is having in America..........

"The people of Europe are finally pushing back against the European Super State, if recent polls are anything to go by. Having grown weary of being treated as lab rats in an increasingly dysfunctional economic and political experiment, a large minority of Europeans seem intent on voting for euroskeptic parties in the upcoming European elections.

The prospect is causing jitters not only among the big wigs in Brussels but also among many of Europe’s mainstream political parties, whose oligopoly on political power faces a serious threat for the first time in decades. Calculations by the Open Europe think tank suggest that hardline sceptics could take as many as 218 of the 751 seats available in the European Parliament.

In the UK, poll research shows that the most pro-European Westminster grouping – the Liberal Democrats – is about to have its European Parliamentary representation completely decimated. Indeed, so threatened do the three establishment parties in the UK feel by Nigel Farage’s UK Independence Party (UKip) that they hit back this week with a cross-party campaign to condemn it as “Euracist”, an ingenious combination of the two words “Europe” and “Racist”."

"“Rarely Does A Monthly Report On The United States Job Market Look So Terrific On The Surface While Being So Disappointing Underneath”

The New York Times’ Neil Irwin gives a balanced view of the new jobs numbers:

Rarely does a monthly report on the United States job market look so terrific on the surface while being so disappointing underneath.

***

Employers added a whopping 288,000 jobs, the most in two years.

***

The number of people in the labor force fell by a whopping 806,000, wiping out the February and March gains and a bit of January as well. The labor force participation rate fell by 0.4 percentage points to 62.8 percent, returning to its December level.

And the number of people reporting they were unemployed fell by 733,000, which sounds good on its surface, but paired with the similar-sized decline in the labor force points tojob seekers giving up looking rather than finding new employment.

In other words, 288,000 jobs were created, but 806,000 fell out of the labor force and gave up looking for work altogether. So 2.8 times as many people dropped out as found jobs.

As CBS notes:

The unemployment rate dropped to 6.3 percent in April from 6.7 percent in March, the lowest it has been since September 2008 when it was 6.1 percent. The sharp drop, though, occurred because the number of people working or seeking work fell. The Bureau of Labor Statistics does not count people not looking for a job as unemployed.

***

The amount (not seasonally adjusted) of Americans not in the labor force in April rose to 92,594,000, almost 1 million more than the previous month.

The number of women not in the labor force has risen to an all-time high. In 20% of American families, no one works."

But reporters don’t realize that those scientists, like bird flu specialists, have every incentive to hype the risk. If their computer models (which so far have been wrong) predict disaster, they get attention and money. If they say,“I’m not sure,” they get nothing.

Also, the IPCC is not just a panel of scientists. It’s an intergovernmental panel. It’s a bureaucracy controlled by the sort of people who once ran for student council and are “exhilarated by the prospect of putting the thumb of the federal government on the scale.”

Actually, that wasn’t a quote from a global warming alarmist. It’s from anti-marijuana alarmist and former Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare Joe Califano. But it’s the same crisis mindset. Scientists who disagree, who are reluctant to put their thumbs on the government scale, don’t feel welcome in the IPCC."

Interesting bit of plagiarism you've put forth here. Written by John Stossel, who has no qualifications whatsover to make the claims he does. He, like the Koch Brothers, promotes libertarian causes.

Who does he work for? Fox News.

As an apologist for big-energy he claimed "Enron is an example of how well the markets work for the people." He's known for drinking a lot of vodka-and-tonics. He's affiliated with the Manhatten Institute, a 501(c), which is affiliated with the State Policy Network.

Next link:

The State Policy Network (SPN) has franchised, funded, and fostered a growing number of “mini Heritage Foundations” at the state level since the early 1990s.[1] SPN is a web of right-wing “think tanks” in every state across the country. It is an $83 million right-wing empire as of the 2011 funding documents from SPN itself and each of its state "think tank" members. Although SPN's member organizations claim to be nonpartisan and independent, the Center for Media and Democracy's in-depth investigation, "EXPOSED: The State Policy Network -- The Powerful Right-Wing Network Helping to Hijack State Politics and Government," reveals that SPN and its member think tanks are major drivers of the right-wing, American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC)-backed corporate agenda in state houses nationwide, with deep ties to the Koch brothers and the national right-wing network of funders

And of course - ALEC - "deep ties to the Koch Brothers and right-wing-network of funders".

So there you have it.

Did you notice that actual science, scientists, and reality were missing from any of that? You should have.

More right-wing-paid-for propaganda, dispersed through the right-wing-propaganda echo-chamber, serving the interests of oil and coal.

Anybody notice how this keeps coming up? You would almost begin to think that Oil and Coal interests are manipulating the right-wing-propaganda slurpers and the American government, or at least the Republican side of things.

This is not in the American Citizens best interests.

You're welcome. I'm happy to admit that more security would have been beneficial, and that the State Department would have had it there if the Republicans hadn't cut the budget for security.

Thank you for finally coming to terms with the fact that Benghazi could have been avoided if it weren't for the failed Republican policies.

Absolutely wrong.
Your party is dishonoring the lives of those Americans by turning their deaths into a political tool to engage in the Republicans favorite sport. Administration-bashing, even when there is no justification.
If you want to honor them, be angry at militant-muslims. Be an agent of change for getting the US out of these crazy mid-east countries. Our governments interest over there is oil and Israel. You want to honor the dead, be a proponent of changing the fact that our government has become the military arm of Exxon Mobile and the other energy conglomerates..
Realized I edited too much. The fact that you would accuse the Republicans of "dishonoring the lives of those Americans" is so pathetic when compared to how the Dems wanted to completely ignore the facts surrounding their deaths and blame it all on one little internet video bears repeating. The recently released (finally) email shows in black and white that the only ones playing politics were those in the Obama White House. That was why the emails directed that the talking points:

"underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video and not a broader failure of policy"

A premise they knew was false from the get-go. THAT is playing politics with the lives of dead Americans.

/chicknbutt bangs his head on his desk.

I'm not going to get into the long and detailed explanation. I've done it previously here, go find that if you will.

Short-version: In retrospect there were militant muslims involved. Nobody denies that, and never has, after the events. You're just creating a straw-man argument.

However, at the time the events occurred, that very day, there were in fact protests in dozens of cities over that idiots video. It was a real thing, going on all over the world. Crowds were gathered, American flags were burned, ignorant muslims were wanting to behead america, all of the standard fare.

At the time the events occurred, while these protests were going on, reports were coming in from multiple federal agencies with conflicting information. Some said one thing was going on, others said other things were going on. The CIA was involved, and that complicates matters even further. It was a confusing situation that took some sorting out.

Nobody in the State Department caused Benghazi. Benghazi is something that happened TO America, not something we did.

Get over it. It's just a witch-hunt. You hope that there is an underlying scandal of monumental proportions so you can validate your anti-liberal views. You're doing as much damage to America as the crazed Muslims did.

As far as our dead Americans go, people who served our country in an ampit hell-hole halfway across the planet? They deserve better than to be your political tools. Show some respect.

Get me straightened out? You're the one, along with the LWLD party, that has no idea what responsibility, integrity, and leadership mean. The dems were in control of all aspects regarding the staffing, allocation, and most importantly the inability to defend, respond, and secure the American Embassy in Benghazi. Period.

So, which of my statements do you disagree with?

1. Republicans cut the budget for embassy security?

or is it this:

2. In retrospect, more security would have been beneficial?

The truth is, you can't argue either one of the things I've said, because they are both true. But argue you will.

You make a hell of a Monday-Morning-Quarterback, Aggie.

Benghazi is something that happened TO America, not something we did. That's a fact.
