The funny unemployment numbers..........

"It came as a shock: U.S. employers added just 74,000 jobs in December, far fewer than anyone expected. This from an economy that had been adding nearly three times as many for four straight months - a key reason the Federal Reserve decided last month to slow its economic stimulus.

So what happened in December? Economists struggled for explanations: Unusually cold weather. A statistical quirk. A temporary halt in steady job growth.

Blurring the picture, a wave of Americans stopped looking for work, meaning they were no longer counted as unemployed. Their exodus cut the unemployment rate from 7 percent to 6.7 percent - its lowest point in more than five years."

Birth was out of the box. Nobody knew how to fill out the form, said it didn't matter it was only paper, and it would work itself out. Said he wouldn't amount to much with a white mother and black father. Hawaii was a new state. An island. It was no problem.
Obama has had quite a headache with this mess that he didn't create. He just showed up. He didn't file the form, it was his form, but it wasn't his to fill out. And Hawaii is just too darn happy to let him take the heat. You gotta feel a bit for him for this mess, because he didn't create it, he was just born. That's the truth, like him or not.

And MSNBC committed a random act of journalism by not trying to sugarcoat the numbers:

"This morning, CNBC’s Michelle Caruso-Cabrera appeared on MSNBC's Morning Joe to announce the new, "awful," December jobs report.
"Oh good Lord..." said host Joe Scarborough.“That’s a horrific number. That's one of the lowest numbers we've seen in years."

Morning Joe's crack news team did make a half-hearted stab at blaming "cold weather," but you could tell they're just not into the argument. The fact is there's simply no way to spin this data as anything other than dismal. They even bemoaned the fact that the unemployment rate only went down because so many people left the workforce. For MSNBC, that comes dangerously close to actual reporting."

WSJ: Compared to using IRS against political opponents, closing traffic lanes is jaywalking...
http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB1000142...
The news media response and the outrage to this really would be funny, if it weren't such an indictment of their credibility. The decision to close the lanes as political payback is a great example of the contempt some in government have for the "little people" who are affected by their whims. Don't like what the mayor did - punish the commuters - yeah, that makes sense.

It was a despicable act - and as Democrat Jay Rockefeller said: "I am concerned about the larger federal implications of what appears to be political appointees abusing their power to hamper interstate commerce and safety without public notice,". No problem, go for it.

BUT I have a question for Rockefeller - where was this same outrage when "political appointees" (Lois Lerner for one) abused "their power to hamper" political opponents of Obama.
There is such a charge to have the feds investigate the lane closures. Well it's been seven months since the IRS scandalous treatment of Tea Party groups and groups with similar political leanings was uncovered and JUST THIS WEEK the administration names the person they have placed in charge of "investigating" the IRS. And lo and behold - it is a person who -for a government employee - donated big bucks to Obama's reelection campaigns. Nope, no appearance of conflict of interest here at all - give me a break.

DOJ response: "it was against department policy and “a prohibited personnel practice under federal law to consider the political affiliation of career employees or other non-merit factors in making personnel decisions.“ Well, it sure didn't stop the IRS from choosing to harass groups based ENTIRELY on their political affiliation.

Ah, I see you now admit it.

Keeping taxes low, even during amazing stock market growth does nothing to help the job markets.

So much for your "job-creators" and "trickle-down" theory that is one of the key principles of the Republican Party. Turns out is was just BS to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

I guess now even you can admit that their policies are pure failures and there's no reason for the Republicans to even exist at this stage.

Good for you.

What have nobama and his administration, and the democratic party as a whole, done to help the job markets?

Today’s jobs report underscores a deeper problem facing our economy: a large and growing block of people who are chronically jobless and completely outside the workforce. In December, the economy added only 74,000 jobs – not nearly enough to keep up with population growth –and 347,000 left the workforce. That means for every one job added, nearly 5 people left the workforce entirely.

This after 5 years of nobama, and 7 years of democrats.

Funny thing about their lame attempt to blame it on the weather..........it wasn't that bad during December..........
Also December job numbers usually go up with seasonal hiring for the holidays..........

Call it what you will, blanket over the issue with slogans, whatever you want - the effect is accurate. And, the "job creators" aren't producing the jobs they promised, even though they personally are thriving.

That's a fact.

Wrong question, as always.

The Republican House, who stated that their objective was to make Obama fail, has done nothing to make life in America better. They've only blocked other peoples attempts.

They really have no agenda whatsoever that addresses 99% of Americans needs. You simply can't show that they've offered ANYTHING for your average family or worker, but you can sure see them taking every oportunity to block anything the might benefit most Americans. They were even willing to hold the country hostage over paying our bills, completely unnecessarily.

If you want to see the country move ahead, if you want the lives of most Americans to get better, Americans need to vote these Republicans out of the House and Senate.

People need to remember: If you're not big energy - Republicans have done nothing for you. Nothing. Worse yet - they're obstructionist.

A huge section of our demographic base - the Boomers, are retiring. More young people are staying out of the job market longer to try to further their education. Many young lower-middle-class couples find that it make more economic sense to keep mom at home, given that child-care is more expensive than what they can take home in a check.

It's a changing world. The only thing that remains constant is that Right-wing-whackos keep pumping out propaganda.

Too bad some are too uneducated and clueless to try to be able to interpret data on their own and take everything at face value without applying reason and thought to the data.
