They get the biggest tax break..........as they do now..........the middle class, in my opinion, will get hammered by FairTax, as they do now with the tax system we live under.......comparing the 1% or 5% of the rich to the 55% or more who are considered the middle income taxpayers, is not a fair comparision in regards to the actual number of individuals involved........
Now you have said you are not promoting or advocating the FairTax, but I find that hard to believe, as you seem to push it over any other solutions..........
The Fair Tax gets everybody in the game, and it is 100% relevant to their income level. It doesn't get any easier. What other solutions are you aware of?

BTW General,
The PCE dropped from $9,750,938 trillion in 2008 to $9,585,862 trillion in 2009.......at the beginning of the recession.....also many other times in the past years..........
How would the FairTax handle (or make up) the drop in Federal Tax revenue associated with a drop in the PCE?

Pardon me for butting in, I don't see where you offered any solutions, ideals maybe, but definitely no solutions. Also, if you are as conservative, bordering on libertarian, as you say, you would be in favor of the fair tax. I'm with the general on this one.

so are many other folks with the General; everyone has an opinion, as do I.........And I expressed my opinion as you have..........

My idea is not new, it was the law of the land until changed. I say changed it back...might have more chance than the fairtax passing..........

I find it hard to believe conservatives like taxes..........particularly with a bloated federal gubmint acting like a GIANT Pac-Man..........

If you HAD read the FairTax book, you'd know that the FairTax rate would be "fluid", it could go up or down, just like tax tables, deductions and rates or, for a better example, the FICA limit. Oh yeah, the FICA limit and FICA taxes would go away under the FairTax...

Well, there are those that believe that individuals pay all taxes and fees, the companies only act as conduits or middle men.

The truth is the truth no matter how long it takes for some people to finally realize it. If the Repubs hadn't pillaged the economy and started an unnecessary war with made up intelligence, and deregulated banks and Wall Street for the benefit of their friends, and put in place an unfunded prescription drug plan that costs taxpayers a trillion dollars a year (every year)... and more, then, yes, it might not be appropriate to "blame" tham for the current economic crisis. But, they did all that and more and will do it again if they should regain enough control to once again rape America. Not only should Georgia's Senators be "sent to the showers", but so should the Republican Congressmen and the Republican Governor.
Yes, I am most assuredly a Democrat, and suprise to you, I'm white, and make nearly 200k/year... I wouldn't mind paying the tax if they would go ahead and repeal the Bush tax cuts. That's the only way out grandchildren will possibly be out of debt. If the Republicans regain control they have ABSOLUTELY NO PLAN for reducing debt or deficit, or anything else... but they will raise not only those, but also their own bank balances and those of their "fat cat" friends.
Theirs a "social Issue" at work here and no amount of Red Neck rhetoric can change that.
So, I suppose taxing & spending our way out of this mess is the best policy? What Bush 2 did was wrong but what Obama has done has compounded it tenfold. Contrary to what you & other Socialists think, Big Brother is not the answer to all of our problems. The federal government IS THE PROBLEM. Dissolve the IRS, NSA, DOE, DOT, & DHS. Go with a national sales tax & put these bureaucrats in the unemployment line & see how fast our economy improves. These aren't your Grandfather's Republicans. The Tea Party conservatives know how to take care of the environment & take their hands off of our personal freedoms. The Democrats think that they, & only they, know what is best for us in all aspects of our lives & they are badly mistaken in this assumption. I WANT MY FREEDOMS BACK!!!

Well Bill, I knew this. The website explains it..........perhaps you can give some details when the Fed gubmint has reduced spending without going into debt in place of raising taxes......BTW, I am for a balanced budget amendment, although that will never come out of congress........

And please tell us what will happen when the FICA goes away.....I know what the website says about the 7.5% of individual contributions, I want to know about the 7.5% company contributions.......what tax limit upon the individual, if any, are the fair tax proponents willing to go too in order to protect the rich and the companies they run..........

Also please tell why you think the tariffs and excise taxes wouldn't work.....I do know the same dip in revenue can result from tariffs and excise taxes as they can from a reduced PCE....
As of yet the General hasn't told us in his own words what will happen when the PCE takes a hit, he just refers me to the website....I know what the website says, I just wanna hear it from those who support the fairtax....although you have stated it here..........
Again, being a conservative I'm against raising taxes of any kind, I am for a reduced bloated federal budget and wasteful spending.....if individuals are expected to live within their means, so should gubmint..........

......

I understand it enough to not like it......a tax plan that would replace total funding for social security upon the shoulders of individuals..........in addition to being another obamacare disaster, waiting in the wings to be placed upon the shoulder of tax payers.....

And I agree individuals pay all company taxes in the form of higher prices......Basically the fairtax looks a lot like the old tax system of tariffs and excise taxes before the 16th amendment was passed.........i.e., dependent upon consumer spending.....fairtax system taxed at the individual level, whereas the original system was taxed at the source........

I have yet to find a system of fair taxes upon the people.......everything goes back to how efficient is our gubmint, and I, for one, dont have a high opinion that our gubmint is efficient..........

Taxes can be raised, or lowered, as needed. This applies to The Fair Tax, as well as the current system, as well as your idea of business paying all taxes. BTW, where would business get the money from to pay all taxes?

"Well Bill, I knew this."

You apparently didn't understand it.

"perhaps you can give some details when the Fed gubmint has reduced spending without going into debt in place of raising taxes"

Why? Apples and oranges, not relevant to the discussion at hand.

"BTW, I am for a balanced budget amendment, although that will never come out of congress"

So am I. The FairTax will likely never come out of Congress, either.

"And please tell us what will happen when the FICA goes away.....I know what the website says about the 7.5% of individual contributions, I want to know about the 7.5% company contributions"

1. The FICA tax is not 7.5%. Why do you think it is?

2. The FairTax would replace federal income taxes.

"The website explains it."

Read the book(s), at least the ones Boortz has authored, he says it in plain language.

"Again, being a conservative I'm against raising taxes of any kind, I am for a reduced bloated federal budget and wasteful spending.....if individuals are expected to live within their means, so should gubmint."

Me, too. You're preaching to the choir.

So, at this point in the discussion:
1) The rich pay more taxes, any way you measure it, including POI.
2) Most would agree the current tax system is out of whack.
3) The Fair Tax is one option being discussed here.
4) Business responsibility alone to ay all taxes is another.
5) Paul Broun is the only one being mentioned for Saxby's Senate seat.

I just wish he could explain how individuals live within their means when we as people are carrying record debt, just like gubmint.
