You can't handle the real truth. I have seen many auto manufactures go out of business and America didn't fall down and die. I have seen Kaiser, American motors, Studebaker, and others go broke. May the best selling cars stay in business. That is called capitalism. When the government buys into and is partners in a industry, that is called Fascism. Bet you would have loved to live in Germany in 1940.
You don't have the ability to comprehend reality. I am talking about the American Auto Industry going away. Not a few failing small manufactures years ago. Ford might have survived but not if the banking industry tanked. The reason Ford didn't need a so called bailout was they had borrowed a awful lot of money using their assets as collateral when interest rates we LOW, that's the only reason. You are truly clueless and have no real grasp of the mess this country was in. Government buys into business every day, with special tax breaks and tax incentives. What I would love is form some people not to be so out of touch with reality always throwing around names like fascism and communism but don't truly know what either is, wake up.

I read an article about that too, Dave. From what I understand, the gov't has just started taking over some stores and selling the goods themselves when they catch the business owners gouging the customers, this all in an attempt to stem record inflation in that country. Interestingly enough, the people, on both the left and right, seem to be in favor of it.

Dave, it's time for an intervention.
We, all your good friends at Topix, have noticed that you need a new pair of glasses.
Obviously your eye-sight has deteriorated to the point where you only read the headlines of the articles you post, not the actual text of the articles.
Venezuela has had a 54% inflation rate in the last year. They've got some SERIOUS economic problems that they are trying to put a lid on, while certain companies are exacerbating the problem through price-gouging.
That's at least twice this week that you didn't know the content of the articles you've linked to.
Poor reading skills would explain a lot with you.
I read the whole article. You do like to downplay communist failures don't you? Now you just tell me what caused this horrible problem to start with. Just what caused these terrible economic problems?
Price fixing never solved any economic problem. Let me guess. Could it have been the government and the way they ran the country? Tell me what hyper inflation is. The problems that they have were not caused by a few bad greedy companies. That is a story put out by a communist government to be given to the poor ignorant people. Just another Communist/Socialist government biting the dust. The problem might very well happen here in time with the Feds printing all that Monopoly money. Go ahead and put your usual B.S. spin on it.

Obama's Wall Street buddies are getting richer everyday. The middle class may not have jobs, are on food stamps, getting unemployment, cost of living going up, wages decreasing, but Obama's Wall Street fat cats are getting richer and richer.

These Whacko's really aren't tuned into reality. That's no insult, the just REALLY don't have a grip on the world.

So many seem to forget the mess we were in. It was sheer panic for awhile. Congressmen having impromptu meetings on the front steps of the capital, a real threat of a complete collapse of teh American economy. They seem to think it's all stuff that happened long ago and far away and never would have affected them in the first place.

It's sad, really, that they can't understand the real world.

You are correct as you don't seem to know the meaning of Communism and Fascism. They are not the same.
Ford Motor Co. was a very well run company and looked toward the future. They were doing everything right that G.M. wasn't. G.M. was poorly managed and well should have gone bankrupt. They could have been reorganized and actually become a better company for it. But no, the government bought them out and saved the unions. The government is still losing money on that deal. Last I heard it was 38 billion dollars. But the union loves it.

They very well may be. Believe me I won't be hiding under my bed. It will not take very many more progressive laws and bills to be passed before this country is Communist. You jest, knowing and trying to hide the truth. Many Americans are now figuring it out. You guys need to hurry up before they do.

If we're going to converse on this subject, you're going to have to listen to what people say. Instead you just want to jump to Gun Owner Armageddon, and then preach.

I am for gun-control measures that promote responsible gun ownership. I think I've said this about 5 times to you in the last week.

You hear the word "guns" and jump straight to "THE GOVERNMENT WANTS ALL OUR GUNS!" "WE WON'T BE ABLE TO FORM A MILITIA AND DEFEND OURSELVES!", even when somebody says precisely the opposite.

The inability to have a rational conversation is a definitive indicator of a zeolot and an extremest with whom it is useless to discuss something with.

If you like the current system, where anybody can buy a large-magazine rapid-fire assault rifle with no background check, no training, and no legal obligation to store it responsibly, just say so. Wait - you already did.

But - how does the situation get any better with your solution? Are you advocating Easter Sunday Services filled up with pistol-packing mamma's and AR-15 toting grannies so they can protect themselves as millions of more guns get into the hands of an ever-increasingly ignorant population?

Sometimes the country has to step back and deal with reality. If you and your political party are too irresponsible to do it, the adults will have to step in. These are the kinds of reasons Republicans are dying off and lost 5 of the last 6 elections.

Again - I never have, and do not propose that guns be confiscated. I do suggest that they are deadly weapons and that precautions and responsible behaviors need to be encouraged, and yes - legislated, because people AREN'T responsible or intelligent for the most part.

You wanna be a reactionary, and get so worked up you tell me what my "inner thoughts" are for me? You're insane. You truly have been brain-washed.
It's so much easier to just create a Straw Man who wants to confiscate all weapons, leaving the citizenry defenseless against the tyrannical American government that, against our wishes, wants to rule over all aspects of our lives.

Imagine ... This is the argument made by people who claim to be good citizens who want to keep 50 round magazines to allow them to shoot as many government employees as necessary;
and who while claiming forcing people to buy medical insurance is too intrusive, want government to control who sleeps with who, and who has children and who doesn't, and whether you can grow a bush and smoke it.

Damn... These folks are so amusingly irrational.

3 out of 6 items - 50%- of what you seem to care about is big-energy.

2 out of 6 items - 34%- of what you care about is health care. Actually, you don't seem to care about health care, you seem to be ANTI-GOVERNMENT health care.

1 out of 6 items - 17%- of what you care about is just some nebulous Libertarian battle-cry.

Now- lets go a step further. Big-Oil, Big-Coal, Big-Pollution is a proponent of small government, and they donate a lot of dollars and set up a lot of 501c to promote this. Small government means less ability to regulate massive polluters. Essentially the Anti-Obamacare trend is in REALITY and anti-government regulation trend.

That gets you up to 85% in favor of letting corporations run hog-wild with pollution, and no regulation, plus 1 meaningless libertarian battle-cry.

All I can say to you is, you live in that world if you want to. It already exists.

http://www.un.org/africarenewal/magazine/augu...

Personally, I don't want to. And I really don't see how any private citizen can support blind, lawless pollution and corporations without laws and regulations.

Here's the party platform from the 1980 Libertarian Campaign.
The players at the time were Big-Oil, Big-Coal, and Big Tobacco.

http://politicsbyjustin.files.wordpress.com/2...

The same people involved in that ridiculous platform are the same players dumping money into Libertarian and Tea Party propaganda RIGHT NOW. The only thing is, they're better at it now and have more money now to promote their interests.

You think you're patriotic and all for "freedom", when the only freedom you're actually enacting and enabling is the "freedom to be abused by big-business".
Great, great post.

Well-spoken.

It's amazing how many Americans still refuse to apologize for the economic, environmental and infrastructure devastation, and the death brought about by their RWW policies.

It's almost as amazing as alleged "Conservatives" demanding the right to be freeloading medical care deadbeats, and demanding the right to sacrifice limited medical care dollars to profit medical insurers.

How does that work? When Bush was duly elected back in the day, did you say the same about him? He certainly had a lot more ties to Wall Street than Obama... Gee, I'm just glad that corporate raider Mormon nut didn't win, he'd be so far in bed with Wall Street he'd have to wear rubbers all the time...

And by the way, I thought you "conservatives" were for big business, unbridled capitalism and less government intrusion. You should be oh so proud of Wall Street and what it's done to the middle class. But of course you really shouldn't forget what the Republican Party has done to the middle class, either...
