If you don't know the difference is abusing the system and breaking the law you need help. G.E. for example may not have "broken the law" by not paying taxes last year, but they sure did abuse the system.
Just because the rich / corporations can pay lobbyists to get laws favorable to them doesn't mean they're not abusing the system.

Yep, and here is the screwy answer...

Anyone that reads and believes the Bible knows that Jesus was a liberal person that helped the sick and poor. He was put here as an example of how we should live our lives. He did not call people names in order to try to make himself stand taller than others. I think I can teach you a lot of things about morals friend. If you don't like my posts then you don't have to read them. I have never said "biblethumpers". I respect other peoples beliefs as long at they fit what being Christain is all about. Maybe when you grow up and move out of your parent's basement you'll start posting some intelligent comments. Until then, keep watching MTV and cartoons all day.

LMAO at the irony and lack of knowledge of this post...

Just EXACTLY how did GE "abuse" the system? Is what they do legal?

GE apparently (although I'm a shareholder, I haven't looked at their tax returns) follows tax rules and laws, reduces taxes (a prudent business practice, some (most) would say), increasing their return to investors (isn't that why people invested in them?), yet they're "abusing" the system? How? Why? Because someone doesn't like the system? Then change it!

Still bet this character doesn't know how an individual or corporation can legally pay no income taxes.

I'll share a little tidbit or two with the poster, although he/she may not comprehend it...For some of you, this is a repeat as it has been addressed before, although (IMHO) it's not as bad as Chicken Nuggets posting about the Koch Brothers...

A LOT of analysis has to go into whether or not a company or individual pays income taxes in any ONE year. For example, they can have loss "carry forwards" that can reduce subsequent year's taxes. Individuals can buy tax credits from the State (perhaps similar to the carbon credits we heard about a few years ago?). I recently finished a tax return for an individual that hasn't owed any State income tax in his state of residence for 3 years now. Why? He bought tax credits from his home state for less than 100% of the value of the tax credit (e.g., paid $80 for $100 worth of tax credits). If you look at just a portion of his tax return, it would show no tax due, but you have to look at several pages to figure out why he has no tax due.

This is the problem that results when someone looks at a single year of a company's tax returns and says, "Corporation XYZ didn't pay any taxes last year". Maybe, is it possible they paid a significant amount in prior years? Maybe, for tax purposes, they have no taxable income? A corporation can make a lot of money for accounting purposes, yet still show a loss for tax purposes. It's usually the other way around, but it does happen.

Perhaps another endorsement for eliminating the current tax system and moving to the FairTax or a similar system...

"Just because the rich / corporations can pay lobbyists to get laws favorable to them doesn't mean they're not abusing the system."

Yet, we have the ACA.

Legal? Sure. Moral? Bad for our economy? Abusing the system?

I think most of us who have any morals know the answer to those questions.

You have dared to agree, and then disagree with me from posts yesterday? Look here Billy, you know I'm right, but arguing seems to be your forte'. You know I'm right about the political system of our country being a failure. I love my country, and the folks in it, but I just don't think a divided system of political parties has done any of us any good. That is my whole point. I find nothing you say, in any way stupid, but bashing me because I tell the truth is not relevant to anything. Go hit golf balls. And don;t aim for the guy on the tractor, because I've done that job at one point in my life, and some of us are of the sort that will get out of the caged cab and walk right up to you asking why you intentionally tried to hit us.

Thanks for your honesty.

You have scared the hell out of all rational Americans who don't want the Christian Taliban to take over America.

Nothing could do more to identify why the greatest danger to our democracy and our Constitution are Right Wing Wackos convinced they not only know God, but they insist God wants them to rule over those who disagree.

No.

As an American:

- I don't want your version of "God" in our schools;
- I want people and businesses taxed to pay for government;
- I want unions powerful enough to bargain on equal footing with big businesses;
- I don't want children and the elderly who can't work to starve to death;
- I don't care if Sue marries Wilma - ain't none of my business;
- I don't care who sleeps with who - ain't none of my business;
- I don't care if you grow a bush and smoke it - ain't none of my business;
- Social Security and Medicare ate socialist programs from top to bottom - and that's fine with me;
- I want more public education, not less, America already suffers from to many ignorant, uneducated, Right Wing fanatical idiots;
- Schools don't indoctrinate homosexuality, except in the minds of Right Wing Wackos;
- I want the EPA more powerful, my kids deserve to inherit an Earth capable of supporting human life, and hopefully cleaner and more beautiful than we inherited;
- I want free college educations for everyone because college educated people are more productive, pay more taxes, and commit fewer crimes;
- I want the federal government controlling education because people like you are on local school boards;

Just substitute "Allah" for "God", and "Quran" for the "Bible", and you'll see who your kindred brothers are.

The good news is, most of America agrees with me - so I win.

Never, ever, ever quote Jesus to a "Christian", because most Christians aren't.

Oh, I don't reject Christ. I love Christ. It's just that so many of you Christians are so unlike Christ.

Jesus was the biggest bleeding heart Leeeeeeeeeeberal Socialist the world has ever seen. The Bible leaves no room for any dispute.

Which is why it is so entertaining to read these posts by alleged "Christians" attacking anything and everything Jesus preached or stood for.

Notice when you quote Jesus' own words to them, how they stumble about, obfuscate, and avoid.

At least it's humorous.

I want a Country where a flat income tax rate is applied to all Americans and doo away with all the loop holes and hidaways for the wealthy.
If you really wanted all of that, you wouldn't have elected Barrack Obama. You are just spewing left wing playbook propaganda.
