Coastal Health District to conduct community health needs assessment in McIntosh, Glynn, and Camden Counties
Rresidents are invited to participate in the anonymous survey, available at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1bpZb_ZOEhfj0...
Coastal Health District is seeking input from McIntosh, Glynn, and Camden County residents to identify and address health care needs and concerns. Beginning today, citizens are invited to participate in a survey to discuss their own health and safety needs and to weigh in on their perceptions of gaps in health and safety services. Information gathered in this process will be used to help the Coastal Health District establish priorities for public health programming.
Working with the Coastal Health District is the School of Business and Public Affairs at the College of Coastal Georgia. Led by Mary Eleanor Wickersham, upper level students in the Public Affairs program will be collecting and analyzing data from citizens across the community and hosting focus groups for key stakeholders who influence health care.
The key part of the needs assessment is the resident survey. Questions range from demographic data to information about health problems and barriers to access to health care. All survey data will be anonymous. No one, including the researchers, can identify who submitted the survey. According to Dr. Wickersham,“This type of survey will allow us to gather a large amount of data that will guide public health programming decisions, while protecting the privacy of citizens who participate.” The goal of the survey is to get a thorough overview of the health and safety problems county residents face and how public health can engage with others in the community to tackle those problems. The data from citizens will help drive decisions and ensure that the Coastal Health District focuses on the areas of greatest need and potential impact.
Citizens are urged to participate online by going to the following link, https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1bpZb_ZOEhfj0... Survey participants are asked to respond to a series of questions that will help researchers identify Camden County’s most significant health problems and concerns and gain information about gaps in the system of care. In order to ensure that the sample of respondents is representative, special care will be taken to include groups that might miss an online survey, including those without computers and those with health care conditions that might limit participation.
Some organizations in the community will be inviting their employees to take a few minutes to complete the survey to ensure wider participation. If your organization would like to help, please email Dr. Wickersham at [email protected] with information about where to send the link for further distribution. Higher numbers of participants means that the information derived will offer more accurate results.
