All those poor landowners that many all they had was the land past down from their families....It was taken from them....at fair price so they say....noone new where the water line was going to be.....but isn't it funny how certain individuals have lots for sale that didn't own land before the lake was built....hmmmmm!!!!!
Your an idiot "taxpayer".. Anyone with a GPS that shows elevation could tell where the water line was gonna be... You sit the GPS on the crest of the spillway, and get a +\- sealevel elevation, and anything adjoining the property less than said elevation will be under water

The lake is by far the best thing I have ever seen happen to carroll County. If you like to fish there is no better in West Tn. The parking lot stays full {35 to 45 boats} but it is not crowded at all. It has by far the best boat ramp I have ever seen. You can load 5 to 8 boats at a time and never get your feet wet. Carroll County residents ought to be very proud. My hat is off to Mayor Kelly and the watershed staff for such a wonderfull place so close to home.

Please be quiet, let the adults speak on this forum...name calling is for children who have not had proper parental guidance growing up. Obviously you did not attend the lake meetings. Also, the land where the levee is located was posted which means only construction personnel should be there. How can anyone justify buying land from the true owners at "fair market value", and now there are tracts of 1/2 acre lots selling for $40K...at which most of those lots are owned by said individuals that DID NOT own land there before the lake was built.

That land is only worth the inflated value now AFTER the construction of the lake, and the $40,000 half acre lots are only worth that AFTER thousands of dollars worth of development. Not to mention any money that these adjoining land owners "lost" because they got less than prime market value was recouped exponentially with the value of their remaining adjoining tracts. The dilluhunty boys whom your obviously referring to purchased their land AFTER the development, and paid the gentleman his asking price.. They saw an opportunity to profit by risk, they took the risk, and I foresee them making a sizeable profit from their endeavor.. As far as my parental guidance as a child and teen, I'm proud to admit that my parents raised me to speak the truth, speak my mind, and bow to no man but Jesus, so I can tell you without question, and without reservation, that you are an ignorant person, self serving, with nothing but your own greed in mind.. In short, an idiot. Your likely one of the few butthurt pompous assholes who hate your own life far too much to ever let yourself unwind and see a good time on the lake, and instead you scale the value of your being on the numerical acreage that your family has accrued throughout history.. Land that you have never plowed, never worked, never livestocked, for that matter, never stepped foot on, and never lifted one finger to aquire..A yuppie, and likely a lazy one at that.

As for the levee.. Scores of locals who weren't sore about this project visited the site on a daily basis, and none were turned away. Had your cranium been less inserted into your rectum, you could very well have joined them.. But instead, you chose to hole up in your little world, pace, be angry, and despise something that you have no control over..why?? Likely simply because you had no control.. Well guess what Mr./Mrs...... There is a big puddle where you used to have swamp land, thousands of strangers swim on your old land, pee on your land, and will continue to enjoy your land from now on, and guess what.... There's not one thing that you can do about it sweetheart:):):)

I too speak my mind that is why I attended the Dale Kelly Lake meetings. It was partly my voice at those meetings that the tax was imposed on our tags as to oppose our property taxes, because I do own several acres of farmland. I have fertile land that if the Lord continues to bless me I will have a bumper crop this year. None of which are nowhere near the lake. I will pray for Slim Shady...even though I sure the Lord will get a good laugh at that name....you may want to read your Bible and ask for forgiveness. Good day.

I agree with Carroll county girl!!! there is not any economica in Carroll county or around near; which is the down fall for all locals. The place is great location's but to expensive that people can really spend since the market changes which is downsizing our country. I wouldn't say I money pit because it brings us closer to hope and animals and fitness. I think there should be fishing everywhere besides a distance from swimming area. Carroll County people will always pay for this project regardless what they say! I also think the Local people should get in for FREE SWIMMING since they got so much taken and lost privacy and land for the ones left so they could build it.

Has anyone heard that they are going to shoot a horror movie out there? And that non of us ( citizens of Carroll county) will be in the movie, or benefit from the movie? I think it would suck that the first people to use the lake won't be any of the people who put into it.... Again I don't know how true that is..but i would like to know
They supposedly shot parts of this horror film before it ever opened. Beech Lake in Lexington was also supposed to be used. I just remember reading the in the newspaper. I am not thrilled by the lake at all. This town is crazy all they do is cover up things that are really going on.

Yeah. The county tax payers pay for it, but Huntingdon owns it. Sound about right for this dump of a county and its board. They've been whatching "Field Of Dreams" too much. "Build it and they will come" so long as you pay your wheel tax and pay to get in.

Didn't Gibson county already try this?

they named it cctal because Dale Kelly did not have enough votes to name it after himself. It should be name "John Tanner" lake because he got the federal money to build it.. The Fishing will not improve until TWRA puts shad in the lake for bait fish.

Well, hopefully you will have something dear to you siezed by the govt for the "enjoyment" of others so that you too may experience the boundless joy of it all someday. Yeah, they were paid but they had no choice. SEIZED !
