Carroll County Thousand Acre Recreation Lake. In my opinion, the name is awful. It is a description, not a name. I suppose it is "set in stone" but I wish they would change it. I don't know why they asked for any submissions when the Chamber of Commerce picked the name anways; for "marketing purposes." I think the lake is going to be a lot of fun though!

I can't wait to see all the business that are going to setup here, hotels, boat dealers, restaurants, bait shops etc. I bet they have a list of businesses just chomping at the bit to setup here, y'all come on down, we need your revenue! This thing should be paid off in a year, maybe less!

Why go there when there is a huge lake just a few miles away. Ky Lake is lots better. This new one is just a pond compared to it.

Sarcasm?

You know the city is 15 million in the lake that isn't even in the city limits? The lake is another idiotic money pit, just like the large empty building going towards Clarksburg. I havent heard of any interest whatsoever in businesses coming here. Instead of making intelligent business decisions, they setup traffic cameras in an effort to just take money from the public.

No, that's true, just ask Mr. Kelly. Even if it's not, try to look at the bright side, the pollution from the nearby aluminum plant should make the fish have a lightly spicy taste! Good times!

That lake is only going to be used by the ones that headed it up 10 years ago. It was their (Vison) and now all of those folks that owned the land got screwed with the land taken away from them.

The lake has cost all of the people in Carroll County money so far with the Tire TAX. NEVER VOTE YOURSELF A TAX. When the lake is payed off the tax will still be there. Plus you will be charged a fee to use it. What a Joke.

It will be a flop. To many Rules to even enjoy it.

Has anyone heard that they are going to shoot a horror movie out there? And that non of us ( citizens of Carroll county) will be in the movie, or benefit from the movie? I think it would suck that the first people to use the lake won't be any of the people who put into it.... Again I don't know how true that is..but i would like to know

This lake isn't going to draw anyone to this area. The lakeside property they have for sale is way too expensive, there is nothing here economically to convince someone to buy anything here, and there is not going to be a movie made here either. It is just a 1000 acre money pit.

The fishing might be great, down the road, if the lake is managed properly. People in the area should now hold the TWRA accountable, if the fishing is not managed properly. The people running the water board (lake) need to monitor fish catches, fish sizes, stocking proposals and this information needs to be shared with anglers and other people who have paid for it. IMHO, it's time for the people to be the authority. Public opinion of the name is negative, mainly because the name is just not good. I have never seen a lake named after the size and location. A name with Carrol County in the name seems ok to me. How about lake Huntingdon? Reedy lake? Reedy resivoir?
