1 Hutchinson cop fired, another suspended

One Hutchinson police officer is fired and another is suspended without pay after separate incidents that happened earlier this year while the officers were off-duty. Police Chief Dan Hatten said Officer Shelly Schmidt was a probationary officer and was told Friday she was fired.

If these officers were from the Metro area they would have gotten a free pass.

Maybe Metro area PDs should learn a lesson from their rural brothers.

As near as I can tell from the story, the first officer was fired for being a passenger in a car!

She was fired for being convicted of a misdemeanor while still in her probationary period.
