Does anyone remember a swimming pool somewhere in the Brownsville general area known as ROSEFIELD'S OR ROSENFIELD'S ? It was a nice pool for the public and they charged a small entrance fee.
Wonder if it is still in operation?

No, it's not there, now; instead there's a CVS.
I knew someone from your 8th grade photo; Shirley
Reese. Her mother was a Skillcorn and her Uncle
had a mom/pop store on Railroad street at the foot
of Blainesburg hill ... not far from Stapleton's.
Shirley's sister, Tugger, babysat me & my cousin,
Cindy, when we were wee one's ... eh ?
Do you ever hear from Shirley or Tugger ?
Which church did you attend ?

I was reading the comments and wanted to ask if the pool you are thinking about is Bellview? It is a little past Nemacolin going towards Bellsville. It was on the left side of the road. It has been closed for a while but not since WWII. I would say about 25 yrs maybe. That may still be too long.
I lived in Brownsville. My sister lived in Centerville for a while when she got married. I just got off the phone with her. She now lives in Arizona. Hope this helps.

Rosefileds was a food store just before going into Richeyville. I believe the owners of the store owned the pool.

I remember seeing that store on US40 The swimming pool was on the other side of US40 at the entrance to Richeyville. There is a gas station there now that is directly across from where the pool was. I was beginning to doubt whether I had the name right because I never saw a name on the place that I can remember. But you have proven the name was Rosefield and I am sure of the location. I'm talking 65 or more years ago that it closed.

Does anyone know if Brownsville still has a police dept? My sister said she heard they lost the police dept several yrs back as there was no funding to maintain it.
I know the pool was still open in the sixties, I graduated from high school in 1967 and it was still open. I believe it may have closed in the late 1970's or early 80's. I think the name was spelled Bel Vue.

THE ROSEFIELD POOL AND THINGS EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT IN RICHEYVILLE,I BELIEVE WAS NAMED AFTER A MAN ROSENFIELD.
MY QUESTION IS DOES ANYONE REMEMBER IF THIS ROSENFIELD GENTLEMAN LIVED IN THE HOME NEXT TO WHERE CVS STANDS NOW (THE OLD GAS STATION). THERE IS A LARGE 2 STORY HOME THERE THAT IS BESIDE 40 AND ROSEFIELD STREET.
I THOUGHT MAYBE HE WAS THE MAN THAT BUILT THE HOME AND LIVED THERE AT ONE TIME.
PS: THE POOL HAS CLOSED, IT WAS SITUATED DOWN THE ROAD WHERE THE NEW GET GO IS, ACROSS THE STREET. BEEN CLOSED FOR MANY MANY YEARS.
