I started working at the 1st National Bank in 1950 after graduating from high school. After getting married I moved to Md. How I loved this town. As a child I lived in Heistersburg, Luzurene Twp. but every weekend I would be visiting my aunt who lived on Water St. Got to go to the Palace Theatre and the Strand all the time. What wonderful memories that can never be taken away!
To Harry: Did your grandparents live in Heistersburg

To Virginia. Of course my ancestors lived in Heistersburg since 1784. I even lived there at times. I think the house that my gr.gr.grandfather lived in before he built the present house in 1863 was located on the site of your house.
It appears that the lot on which your house is located was sold off of the original H homestead.
It seems that the H farm was originally a part of the Jehu Conwell homestead before it was split off.
I created a fairly good history of Luzerne Tsp and it can be seen on DVD at the Utown, Bville libraries and the Flat Iron Museum.
The Ds were also one of the orginal settlers. The first road thru Luzerne Tsp came between your house and the old post office before it was rerouted in 1819 to its present course.
Sorry, I just noticed your blog today. HH
