Any non felon should be able to own body armor. Self protection should not be for only police officers.

If self-protection is the issue here, then felons should be allowed to own body armor as well.

Felons lose rights in many states, including the right to vote. If you're convicted of a gun crime, I can understand prohibiting the ownership of body armor.

Guns aren't meant for self defense, they're meant to hurt people. Body armor, however, is meant to defend the body from harm. While I agree with you that felons shouldn't be allowed to own body armor, I'm trying to point out the hypocrisy here that if its "self-protection" we're clamoring about, and if cops shouldn't be the only folks to be able to possess it, then felons shouldn't either.

A Teflon coated , or cop killer bullet will defeat most vests, as tests prove.

Huh!? Most definitely, felons shouldn't be the only folks to be able to possess it, as you state above. Hell, they should be the last!

If non-felons need to be protected by unruly cops, then felons need that protection even more.

Complete Crap. Your Stereotyping all Felons as if they are all Murderers. many People with felonies have Non-Violent offenses and most made MISTAKES when the were young and Immature and for Life get Branded as Horrible people. While Majority of you Self Rightous Do gooders are Worse on a daily bases and just havent been Caught.. as far as Body Armor Goes Anybody Should be Allowed to Have it... Most People that are going to Strap some on and "shoot up" someplace werent Felons to Begin with..
