I'm sorry but we cut our wrist bands off and refused to return after the first day. What a disaster! No water, no air to breathe, absurd waiting times to get in and especially out, goof offs running the spot lights and turning the lights out on the American Flag and our Marines!! YOU NEVER TURN THE LIGHTS OUT WHILE THE FLAG IS DISPLAYED LIKE THAT!! And it was insulting to our Marines as well to have them standing around for so long simply because someone in "planning" couldn't get their act together.

We love Alan Jackson but we didn't go back after the Friday debacle. Just how in the hell would they have gotten police in there if there had been an emergency or firemen if some of those RV's had caught fire all full of gas and propane!

We've been to festivals all over and this was by far the worst. And the crowd!!! What the hell was that? No applause for encores and a stupid comment by the "mc" that Diamond Rio had to catch a plane....REALLY? The people left the grounds looking like a bomb had gone off!! Pigs to put it politely left stacks of garbage all over even though there were trash cans everywhere.

And then there was a big goon making an attempt at directing traffic once we FINALLY got out of that lot and he had some stupid remark for us because we wanted to turn right for Sweet Home rather than left like everyone else. Compare that to the fact that all the workers from the Sweet Home festival lined up after the concert to thank us for attending!

It's amazing to thing two groups of people could start off with the same intention and end up so diametrically opposed. We spent the big bucks for reserved seats and VIP parking, so you can imagine it wasn't an easy decision for us to cut those wrist bands off. What a disgrace. ANYONE OVER THERE EVER THINK ABOUT SOME WATER TRUCKS TO KEEP THE DIRT AND POLLEN DOWN??? Just disgraceful.

Anyone wants to take me to task please reply or email me: mq@mqpq.com

Thanks for the play by play report and color commentary. I hope you got a lousy T-shirt?

What a sorry bunch of crap this Michael Quinn writes about the Country Music Festival. Yes, it was crowded (of course) and yes, it was dusty (hay field, duh) but c'mon, the music was fantastic, the attendance was doubled over last year (I read) so I think they did a pretty good job with that in mind. My family, friends and I stayed all three days (we had VIP tickets and parking) and we all just loved it. I've already made my reservations at the Pioneer for next year (I had to drive to Corvallis every night, as the Pioneer was filled up months ago) and I'm still not going to bitch about it, as this Michael did. Something tells me he is like this about everything in his life. Get over yourself, chill and have fun. Go Bi-Mart!!!

Of course you're entitled to think whatever you like. I've been going to festivals like this for at least 20 years and this is the first time I've ever been moved to submit a negative comment. They doubled the attendance all right, no argument there. What they didn't do was spend a corresponding amount of money to provide for the additional people. Money for water trucks, cops, drinking water, and some sane way of getting in an out of that pasture besides a dirt path for thousands of people to go out single file. That's insane and it's greed. You go and have a good time, I'm happy for you. Me? I prefer a little more organization and a little more feeling of security when I'm with the ones I love and some air to breathe. Why do YOU suppose they didn't have water trucks out there to keep the dust down if it wasn't because someone was pocketing the money? Good grief, so many expect so little and sure enough...they get it.
