Chris Allen seems to still get heat by some in town and on the boards, but if we did not have WBKO and its staff including Chris whom is probably WBKO's longest tenured on-air employee in the history of the station, where else would we turn too?

That leads me to WNKY which is our other local station. That station has to be the most pathetic station in any market. They launched a CBS affiliate about a year ago on a digital signal and while it benefits the community in advertising and the ability to pick it up on a digital signal, other than that it is absolutely a pointless station to have for the community.

They have no local news, even though the NBC station has been around for 7 years and the WNKY station has been around for about 18 years when they were WKNT as an independent and then later a FOX station. The CBS affiliate shows Jerry Springer and Simpsons repeats that have been shown a million times when they should be showing local news, yet they claim to be this fabulous station everyone should turn to watch and even take shots at WBKO. While, there weather team are decent meteorologists, what is the point in having weather without news, sports, the whole 9 yards???

The only item that worked out was I heard that they demanded that Insight remove WTVF and WLKY from the channel lineup, but Insight refused when they realized that they had no local programming lined up on the new CBS station and new that there was no way that they could remove two stations for news, while giving us a station that shows nothing but Simpsons repeats.

I totally agree WNKY is pathetic. There new meteorologist Jim Lawrence is an excellent weatherman, probably too good for Bowling Green. Its just sad he does not have the weather equipment to produce a good forecast like WBKO has.

They are breaking in more now and giving weather updates during severe weather, however there radar is something like you would see in 1990. They don't have the capabilities to track storms and use the zoom-in tool like WBKO has had for years now.

I also noticed that there CBS channel is showing Tyra Banks instead of Jerry Springer now in the afternoon. I heard a rumor that there station was flooded with calls from people about why they put Jerry Springer on in the middle of the afternoon when the other two CBS stations are showing news.

If we didn't have WNKY CBS which is barely a year old, there would be no way to view the WKU game tomorrow since WTVF (Nashville) and WLKY (Louisville) must show the Louisville/Tennessee game. However I remember WBKO showing the WKU/Florida 1st round NCAA game in 2001 seeing they must have gotten permission from CBS, but they did not show WKU's 2002 and 2003 1st round games.

I still can't believe 3 schools within a stone's throw of each other are scheduled at the same time in the sweet 16 on CBS.
