Spine Decompression

Does spine decompression work, Or have you tried it for a bulging disk. Thanks for any information.

Is that where you go through several series of visit to the chiropractor and they have a decompression bed? If so, my mom done that last year and it really helped her. I am going to have it done when they get the bed down here at our local chiropractor in a few months or so. I have a bulged disk also and sometimes I can't get off of the couch for a week. She has that deteriorating disk problem and now she has spurs all up her spine. She just found out about the spurs. He back doesn't really bother her unless she stands or sits for a long period of time. I am the same way. I would check into it a little more if this is something that you are really thinking about. I know that I am going to do it.

A "bulging disc" and spinal compression are two different things.

I have had ten assorted spinal operations. Some have more success than others. Forget having any spinal surgery in order to eliminate pain.

If you are having unbarable radiating pain, it is certainly understandable. If you can live with it, I would do so until it became worse. If the problem is in the lumbar region and causing weakeness, inability to walk and loss of control of your eliminations, see a spinal neurosurgeon asap.

There is lots of info on the internet. If you have spinal problems, read as much as you can. Best wishes.

I know that it is two different things but it is also good for bulged and other disc problems. My mom had it done. I totally agree with you on the back surgeries. My cousin has had surgery after surgery. He has had rods placed in his back. You name it and he has had it put in or cut on. He is on so much pain medication from just the surgeries. He hurts worse now than he did before being operated on. My aunt has had them as well and she is in the same shape. They wanted to do surgery on my mom and she refused. She is glad she did because those decompression sessions had helped her.

Each case is different to say the least. I had a lot of work done on my neck first. After three surgeries and a lot of metal intrumentation, my neck has been stable for ten years with only predictable arthritic changes. I would do it all again.

I can not say the same for the lower lumbar. There are quite a few non invasive or minimally invassive options before having the major surgical work done. I have cages and rods on four levels and the spine continues to crash. Best wishes.

minimally invasive just refers to the type of intruments used and how big your incision is. It is still invasive and not very minimal.

I have heard and it makes sense: that the decompression where they lay you on a bed type thing is temporary and you have to keep going. If you have spinal compression this is not a real fix.

Iris, I have to chuckle whenever a surgeon says that a procedure will be minimally invassive. The slice and dice boys up in Louisville tried to tell me that the last repair they did was going to be minimal.

It was a 360 with a six inch incission the back and a twelve inch incission in the front. That resulted in a 12 day rehab at SKY and I am a tough old bird. Regards.
