Wondering if these post are made by dope heads and criminals? It sounds like to me that Starnes is doing a good job.. We have to many drug problems and theives in this county! I guess if I was a criminal I would want him to lose his job to! Get over it people find something better to do with your time. Try trashing the criminals and not the cops.

You have not met Starnes......that much is Very clear

He is a "Chip-On-The-Shoulder " kinda guy.....you are not likely to forget him.
I was pulled over for a simple no seat belt.....2hrs later he was completly dumbfounded that he could not keep me there longer or try and take me to jail somehow....(white, educated, no priors, squeaky clean as a matter of fact)
You tell me how this helps a small community like ours????

Also, please use punctuation so it doesn't read like you are an auctioneer, and capitalize proper names.

I have met Deputy Starnes and he is the one cop in the county who is not afraid to go after someone breaking the law without worrying about who they are or who they're related to. If you obey the laws, then you won't have to worry about an incident with any of our law enforcement. At least he is trying to do something about the drugs in our county. That's more than you can say about some of our former law enforcement,

He might not be afraid to go after people but it don't give him a right to be rude to people who don't deserve it.

What are you related to him....or work with him????

You will feel the same way when he pulls you over for no reason...said you were swearving and you blow a 0.0
he asks you if you mind doing it again.....and you dont mind
0.0
He then questions whether the machine is Working......not even considering the fact That I Don't Drink!!

He makes police dispach confirm "4 times" to make triple sure there are no warrants
they Keep saying....."NO PRIORS-NOTHING"
then he wants to search the car??????????
Why???

I call it abuse of Power
Plain and Simple!

I assure you that I am not the only one in this town that feels the way I do.....

No I am not kin to him or any other law enforcement officer in Brownsville. And if I'm speeding, weaving, etc then I would expect to be pulled over. If I'm weaving and the cop wants a breath analyzer then I would do it and it would be a 0.0 because I don't drink. Neither do I do drugs so I don't care if they request to search my vehicle.

A few years back, my then boyfriend was pulled over by a local cop for tailgating. I was following in a different vehicle. When we passed where the cop was sitting my boyfriend was in front of me and has no car in front of him. The cop waited until we were stopped at a local community grocery and pulled in behind him and blocked him in the parking place. Also charged him with speeding cause he had paced him at 70 mph. The cop was behind me so how did he pace him cause I wasn't speeding. Took him to jail and tried to find a jail to take me to because I asked him how he was tailgating when no one was in front of him. Now wasn't that something to take someone to jail for? For the record, the judge actually laughed at the charges before dismissing all of them.

The point that I'm trying to make with that story is that all cops do things that some people won't agree with.

I received a speeding ticket a few months ago. State trooper said I was the nicest person he had pulled over for a while. My attitude was that I was speeding and got caught. I deserved the ticket so why should I have gotten rude with the cop? He was only doing his job!!

Yes, and we all know the jails and court system and prisons are full of "innocent" people. Brian Starnes is a good guy. People get all bent out over the slightest thing a law enforcement officer does. The job does come with a bit of an attitude, but so does, the presidency of the US, an attorney, a used car salesman...the list goes on and on. People look at law enforcement the same way they look at ministers and their children: They think they should be perfect. They are not. None of us are perfect. As for the ECcitizen, if your BF has been in trouble in the past, unfortunately, he will probably always be noticed/checked out in a road block situation - that's just life.

well, i ain't got a dog in this fight, but I have to tell you guys that threatning statements anyone makes against a peace officer of ANY kind,( even anonomously on topix ) is punishable as a crime in itself.
everyone should be very careful about how you speak and what statements you make. terroristic threatning is a class D Felony, and can be higher if used toward a peace officer.
"law enforcement" can and sometimes does ask topix for IP addys, and will prosecute if they want to, so everyone think before you type.
just my 2 cents worth.......10-4......

Quit doing drugs u idiots. I guarantee the only reason ur putting him down is cuz he busted ur ass for something. And heres a little tip, cops go thru a lot of shit daily. Their stressed enough, without u getting smart with them for pulling u over. Go ahead and talk shit, you'll change ur mind one day when u need them to save u or help some of ur family.
