I am new to topix's and could not believe all the bad things said about the restaurants and people in Brownsville. Every one has been talked about except for the Mexican restaurant. Just to let you know, I worked at a place in Bowling Green and I guarantee the people who work here in Brownsville are much nicer, cleaner, and moral plus the food is much cleaner. Why bash the people who are working so hard to given you good food and good service. You would be surprised what is going on and who is serving your food in other places.

The problem with Brownsville is to many dead beats, that have nothing better to do with there time. They sit on their a$$ all day then gripe about the working people.Get a life, get a job, take some time off your hands.

Brownsville sucks ass because it's such a small town, everyone knows everyone's business and likes to run their mouths. And if you don't have a certain last name you dont get shit.

EXCUSE ME?? We are not inbred thiefs, meth addicts, OR lazy bums! Get over yourselves and get a life of your own. We have no inbred thiefs, no meth addicts, and no lazy bums!! We have hard working people unlike where you live. You have all of the things you said WE had. Shut your mouth about us. You know nothing about here.

I was raised in Brownsville, being said, I state:

1. There are meth addicts, alcoholics, dead beats, and a number of other things that most cities in the US have.
2. They elect people into office that have no experience (or education in politics) to run the county.
3. They try to keep out diversity and commerce, which in the end keeps most of the people living here to go outside the city to work and buy things.
4. Most people are disconnected from the way that people run this county. I would say mainly due to the fact that they are too busy trying to meet their daily needs of working, maintaining their families needs, and the daily commute to actually find a job to provide for their families. In consequence, there isn't much transparency to see how the elected officials do their jobs.
5. Due to the size of the city/county, as an old saying in my family goes, "There is no use for a newspaper, cause everyone already knows everyone elses business before it hits the newspaper".

Having said this... I was lived the majority (6+ years) away from here in major cities in the US and outside of the US in a different country; however, I will say that one thing that you can still find here that is noteworthy is a level of peace, a form of respect for others (regardless if it's from social pressure or out of genuine sincerity), and safety. There are things that could definitely be worked on, but it's not a horrible place to live. Boring at times, yes, but like I did, if you do not like it, do what you need to do in your life to be where you want to be, i.e. move away.

This is the mother of EClover4888, I just found where my child had been posting and commenting on posts. I ran across this one and wanted to say that you are exactly right! We get a bum rap because if you don't have a certain last name you won't go anywhere...what I mean is we elect those officals based on "who they are" not on their "intelligence". It can be harsh place to live at times because as you said, "...everyone already knows everyone elses business before it hits the newspaper", so truer words have never been spoken! Everything spreads like wildfire around here. Now I have to say this...we have a lot of good people, with good beliefs and morals, and I can honestly say that I wouldn't have my salvation if I hadn't been raised here in Edmonson County, so for that I'm thankful!***not saying you can't be saved other places, but i'm glad i was born here to my parents and raised to love my church***

It's easy, if you don't like it move! I was raised in the EC, lived several other places, and moved back. If you morons hadn't noticed, meth is a statewide problem, or even more, a nationwide problem. It's just that in larger populated areas you don't know the ones who are using or that got busted. I had much rather raise my children in a county that has nosey neighbors than somewhere where a little thug gets busted at school every other day for packing a gun or dealing x and crack. Again, if you don't like it, leave!

Please learn to spell. Making is not makeing. Also, not everyone gossips in EC. There are some who keep to themselves and wish no ill toward anyone and I believe that no one is perfect so judge ye lest ye be judged. Take it from me we all make mistakes. Not to mention there are plenty of gossiping trouble makers all over the world, that's why we know about almost everything that's going on everywhere...they just stick a label on it and call most of it "NEWS".

well it really boils down to if you dont like change it, i love edmonson county always have thats why i always come back but i do agree with you when you say there is alot of drug use in this county and sometimes it seems like the drug dealers are the only ones making it here, there really needs to be more jobs brought here alot of the people that dont have jobs dont have a way to go to bowling green or leichfield to get one, that would help this county so much if there was just more jobs and i truely believe that will cannon will clean the drug dealers out, its just to bad that some of us are going to have to leave to find work before it happens i know this could be a wonderful county if everyone would work together to make it better instead of trashing one another on here i pray that each and everyone of you take a step back and see that this isnt the way to make a difernce here PEACE AND LOVE
